Jessie Mae Nelms, age 99 of Mountain Home passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Mountain Home. She was born on January 27, 1916 in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi to Theresa (Magee) Barnett and Jesse Simeon Barnett. She lived in several places in Mississippi prior to moving to Mountain Home. She was always involved with church activities, teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the First Families of Mississippi and active in the D.A.R. for many years.
She is survived by her husband, James ''Jim'' Nelms of Mountain Home; a son Roger (Lorene) Shackleford of Mountain Home; a granddaughter, Terrel Barnett of Edmonds, Washington; 4 nieces, 1 nephew and many great nieces and nephews. Two sisters, five brothers and her parents preceded her in death. She lost one son, Charles Edward in the Viet Nam War.
She had a special bond with her niece Harriett Land that began when Harriett was a little girl and has continued throughout their lives. Thanksgiving and Christmas were cherished times for her because they were often spent at Harriett's home.
Her primary hobbies were Bridge, travel and hunting. She was an avid bridge player, particularly Party Bridge. She traveled extensively with many world cruises and tours. She was a member of two hunting clubs. She enjoyed many trips to Idaho and Utah for hunting deer, elk and moose. She often boasted of killing and one hundred and eleven deer in her lifetime.
She was very talented in many areas as an artist, seamstress and cross stitching elaborate scenes. She will be remembered by many for her untiring caregiving to others.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2015 at Roller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in Jessie Mae Nelm's name to East Side Baptist Church.

I am so sorry for your loss. To live to 99 is quite an accomplishment but even at that it is much shorter than God had originally purposed. In fact he meant that we should never die.
However because of our first parents disobedience we do all suffer and eventually die.
Soon though we have the promise that God will bring our loved ones back to us and we will have no more tears, sorrow or pain. John 5:28,29, Rev 21:3,4.
May you find comfort in these passages and from the love and support from your family and friends.
