Rutha M. Ervin, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born in Bono, AR to the late Robert Newton and Sarah Leora Watkins Montgomery. Mrs. Ervin worked for over 50 years with the Cotton Exchange in Memphis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis, and attended Fairview Baptist in Jonesboro. She was an avid reader, knitted for the homeless with MIFA of Memphis, was a member and president of ABWA, and worked for the Woodruff-Fontaine House.
Mrs. Ervin is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh Ervin; four brothers, Aldon, Edward, Sterlin, and Wayne Montgomery; three sisters, Geneva Roach, Zelma Farmer, and Ann Barnett; two nieces and a nephew; and a step-son.
Mrs. Ervin is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Thursday at Herman Cemetery in Bono with Bro. Jerry Jolly officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
