William Flay ''Buddy'' White, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at his home. He was born September 16, 1929, at Bowman, to Odist and Betty (Ward) White.
He was a graduate of Bay High School and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Bowman Baptist Church, and had served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Carter) White; one son, Marty (Patsy) White; two daughters, Linda (Bob) Pittman of Memphis, Tennessee, and Vicky (Robbie) Richmond of Jonesboro; one sister, Norma (Harold) Gordon of Doniphan, Missouri; grandchildren, Jesse (Kelly) Flye, Logan (Jodi) White, Jennifer Pittman, Evelyn White, Olivia Pittman, and Emily Richmond of Atlanta, Georgia; and four great-grandchildren, Cooper Flye, Dawson Flye, Jackson White and Tanner White.
A graveside service will be at Monday, September 18, at 2:00pm at Jonesboro Memorial Park, with John Freeman officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:30pm prior to the service at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue, Jonesboro.
I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Mr. White a couple of times, but I know more of him through Linda and he was a well-respected man and a wonderful father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
