Harry N. Johnson, of Brookland, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at the age of 88. He was born July 22, 1929 in Lunsford, AR to Richard and Bonnie Neely Johnson. He worked for the state of Arkansas as a mental health worker. He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ. He was a former Mayor, and also the Fire Chief, of Brookland. He loved fishing, camping, gardening and playing with his dog, Buddy. Mr. Johnson also served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife, Vonda Johnson; his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren, Melissa Greig and Stacey McCain.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Jeri) Johnson; three daughters, Patricia (Keith) Crawford, Phyllis (Charlie) Robson and Melinda (Gary) Hill; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Chapel services will be 2 pm Wednesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with David Gibson and Jeff Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
Visitation will begin at 12 pm (Noon) until time of service.
Mr. Johnson's grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Ralph Elder, Ed Watson, Wilson Shipman, Eric Watson, Bo Johnson and Roger Bobo will serve as honorary pallbearers.
