Mary Fortenberry

of Paragould, AR

January 13, 1931 - September 5, 2017

Mary Fortenberry, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her home at the age of 86. She was born January 13, 1931 in Fontaine, AR to Elmer and Cordelia Pratt Swindle. Mrs. Fortenberry was a homemaker then worked for 20 years at ASU in housekeeping. She was a member of Lorado Baptist Church. She loved to read, gardening, canning, flowers, listening to gospel music, watching baseball, and most of all, raising seven children.

Mrs. Fortenberry is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leonard Fortenberry; her brothers, sisters and granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley Fortenberry, Donald Fortenberry and Jack Fortenberry; four daughters, Donna Street, Kathy Davis, Terri Glenn and Patty Hernandez; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Services will be 11 am Friday at Lorado Baptist Church with Stacy Prater officiating. Interment will follow at Lorado Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.

Larry Fortenberry, Steve Fortenberry, Keith Fielder, Kolby George, Joshua Hernandez, and Dylan Bossert will serve as pallbearers. Ron Fielder, Carl Coleman, Roy Rhea and Jerry Fielder will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers please consider the Lorado Cemetery Association in care of Keith Fielder.
