Thomas "Tom" Keith Hood

of Paragould, AR

July 9, 1947 - August 22, 2017

Thomas Keith ''Tom'' Hood of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was born July 9, 1947, in Lake City. He was the third of six children born to Jim and Gladys (Berg) Hood. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Hood, sister Elizabeth Anne Hood, and a son, Stephen Mark Hood.

Tom answered the call to Christian ministry in 1966. Throughout his 51 years of service, he pastored churches in Missouri, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. His passion for helping those with heavy burdens led him to visiting the lonely or infirmed, encouraging those in personal crisis, and providing for the practical needs of parishioners and the local community. Tom often recalled that some of his most fulfilling times in ministry included building a church and leading bible studies with Native Americans in Montana, as well as mentoring inmates through local prison ministries. He also seemed the most joyful surrounded by children or youth.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Tom leaves behind his wife, Linda Elaine (Allen) Hood; daughter, Kimberli Easley and husband, Jesse of Fredericksburg, Texas; son, Greg Hood and wife, Grace of Katy, Texas; son, Jason Hood and fiancé, Emily of McDonough, Georgia; grandchildren, Alexander Hood, Annie Rose Hood, Emerson Hood, and Maya Hood; brothers, Randy Hood, Donald Hood, and Terry Hood.

Tom's compassionate heart and genuine love for people led him to live his life according to the following two verses:

Matthew 11:28 ''Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.''

Matthew 25:40 ''Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.''

There will be a funeral service Sunday, August 27, at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel, 1900 West Washington, Jonesboro, at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery at Paragould. Dave White will officiate.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30pm '''' 1:30pm.

Pallbearers will be Chad Wood, Shane Wood, Fisher Wood, Blaine Wood, Hunter Rawls, and Brandon Russom.
