Arnold J. Houston, 88, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Lexington Place. He was born December 24, 1928, in Craighead county, to J.V. and Lora Kirksey Houston.

Mr. Houston retired from American Electric/Mid-South Plumbing after 42 years, then drove a school bus for Northeast Arkansas Comprehensive Learning Center for 14 years. He also had his own bush hogging business for 20 years. He was a member of Fisher Street United Methodist Church, and served in the National Guard. He was always the ''go-to'' person everyone turned to whenever they needed anything done.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Arnold Houston; sisters, Bessie Houston and Jessie Thompson; and brothers, Willie and Lloyd Houston, and Jesse Verge Houston, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Nola June Coleman Houston; daughter Brenda Woechan of Daytona Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Kimberly Darrow; and great-grandson, Kevick Clemen of Clarks Hill, Indiana.

Visitation will be 11:00am-12:00 noon, Friday, December 30, at Fisher Street Methodist Church, with funeral services following at 12:00noon. Dr. Charles Coleman will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Coleman, Michael Causey, Skyler Coleman, Nathan Coleman, Rusty Coleman, and Randy Coleman. Pianist will be Joy Coleman.
