Marjorie Ann Huber

of Weiner, AR

January 13, 1930 - November 19, 2016

Marjorie Ann Day Huber

Marjorie was born in Ouachita Parish, Monroe, Louisiana, January 13, 1930, and died on November 19, 2016, in Louisville, KY at her daughter's home. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Day and Katherine Naff, Bastrop, LA and maternal grandparents were Hiram Chappell and Susan Moffett, Hattisburg, MS. She graduated from Bastrop High School, Bastrop, LA and has lived in Weiner since her marriage to Jennings Bryan (JB) Huber in 1948.

Marjorie was a homemaker, an author, enjoyed genealogy, and was a local historian. She was a member and treasurer of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association. She inventoried and compiled computerized census records of Oak Grove and six other cemeteries in the area. She devised a computer bookkeeping system for Oak Grove that identified all burials with the Cemetery map. She was a true patriot and was instrumental in erecting the Veterans Memorial Monument in Oak Grove Cemetery and coordinating the annual Memorial Service in Oak Grove for over twenty years. She began the local tradition of placing flags on the graves of veterans in the area cemeteries on Memorial Day.

She was a member of the National Society of Magna Charta Dames, the National Society of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the former Ashley County Arkansas Historical Society, and the former Poinsett County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Arkansas Antique Car Club, the Weiner Lions Club and member and past president of the Weiner Area Chamber of Commerce.

Marjorie possessed a deep faith in God and lived a life of service to Him with a kind and gentle spirit. She had a ready smile for all and regardless of her circumstances she was always, ''just fine.'' She was a member of the Weiner Christian Church and as a young mother served as teacher and director of vacation bible schools. She and her family helped start Christian churches in Jonesboro where she served as a secretary, teacher and director of children's departments. Her husband suffered a spinal stroke in 2004 and she was his fulltime caregiver for almost eight years. Her care for him was an example to family and friends of the fulfillment of marriage vows, true love and unselfish devotion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Nathaniel Day, Sr. and Thelma Chappell, brothers Nathaniel Frank Day, Jr., Maurice J. Day and sister, Katharine Huber.

She is survived by her son Bryan Huber (Marsha) of Jonesboro, daughter Maribeth Thomas (Patrick) of Louisville, KY, and grandchildren Laura Huber Person (Barrett) of Fayetteville, AR, Lisa Huber Thompson (Brian) of Hernando, MS, and Stewart Thomas (Rebecca) of Valparaiso, IN; great grandchildren Mary Ellis Person, Caroline and Lyla Thompson, Daelynn, Emmeline, and Asher Thomas. She is also survived by her brother Charles Day (Elisabeth) of Waskom, TX; her sisters-in-law Martha Day of Pine Bluff, Juanita Keller of Jonesboro and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

A service celebrating the life of Marjorie Ann Day Huber will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, at Weiner Christian Church with visitation before the service from 9:30-11 a.m. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Weiner Oak Grove Cemetery, P O Box 361, Weiner, AR 72479.

So very sorry at the loss of Mrs Marjorie. We have all been so blessed to have known her. She was so kind and compassionate and always smiling. She is now with our Lord and again with JB. She loved all of you with all that she was. Her family always came first after our Lord. What a fine example of what a Christian woman, wife, mother, sister. She will be sorely missed but she was ready to leave this life. Deepest sympathy to you and yours.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your wonderful mother and dear friend. She will be missed. May your cherished memories of her make you smile and bring you comfort at this time of loss. May God's promise to end death and sorrow give you strength and hope. Revelation 21:4 " And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
