George Bernard Williams, 85, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home, Jonesboro, Arkansas. He had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years. George had suffered a serious stroke three months ago. Throughout this time, he was cared for by his devoted wife and loved by friends and family.
George was born September 22, 1930 in Denton, Arkansas in the Smithville community. George was highly intelligent and gifted with many abilities to repair just about anything. He worked for many years at the Flour Daniel Corporation and then for Hytrol in Jonesboro. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He and his good wife owned and operated a resort on Lake Norfork at Mountain Home for many years. George and Ella enjoyed life in Mountain Home and here in Jonesboro. He lived a simple life of honesty, integrity, goodness and grace. He was a very good man.
George loved America and served his country in the United States Army with honor. He loved God, the Bible and all that was true and right. He was a Christian and member of the Valley View Church of Christ in Jonesboro.
George loved his little dog, Molly and she gave him much joy in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Anna (Holder) Williams; a sister, Norma Jean Dill; and a beloved son, David Williams.
Survivors include his most beloved wife of nearly sixty years, Ella Williams, and many nieces and nephews. Also, he is survived by many dear friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Visitation will be this Sunday at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home here in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Burial will be at the Oakridge Cemetery at Bono. Allen Ashlock will be officiating at the services.
In lieu of flowers you may send a memorial gift to the Children's Homes, 5515 Walcott Rd., Paragould, Arkansas 72450. Mrs. Ella Williams wishes to thank the wonderful staff at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Facility for their excellent care of George these past three months. Also, appreciation is noted for St. Bernard's Hospice Care for George in these last days.
God bless you beloved George Williams. May God care for you in the beauty of paradise until we all meet again!

We are saddened to here of George's passing, he was always very kind to us. I 'Mark' remember he was always hunting & fishing and passed that along to David, we had a lot of good times and yes he could fix anything. Ella you are in our thought and prayers, God bless you.
