Such a sweet man. Can't imagine walking back into the store without seeing him napping in the corner.
I worked for Ron after high school in 2006. Ron was an awesome person to work for. I knew Ron for a good portion of my life before then as well. I remember coming in after he talked to my mom and asked if I was still looking for a job before calling and as soon as I walked in said when I should start. Ron taught me how to work the meat cutting equipment, improved my work ethic, and overall helped me break my shell in regards to speaking to strangers. I was always very "introverted" before working for him.
When I received the notification from my mom about his passing, I knew the world lost a wonderful person. He was there for me when my grandfather, George Cook, passed away, and as well as each grandparent after. I only wish I was able to make it out to say my finial goodbyes, but wish all of his family well.

To the family,
We were so sorry to hear this news. Bono has lost a valued leader of it's community and America has lost a great citizen. I just talked to my Mom, Betty Sue Perkins, and she asked that I say she was sorry to hear this and that she is praying for the family. She also said that Ron was a very good friend to her and to my dad, Jimmy Perkins, and he will be missed and to say thanks for the numerous times he visited with them and delivered groceries to their home at 56. Ron worked with my wife, Debbie (Ables) at Merriman's before Ron purchased the store at Bono and every time I was in and stopped at the store he always asked about Mom and Dad and how they were doing and if they were with me he always would come out to the car to talk to them. That meant a lot to them and to me. He truly cared and he truly will be missed by all that knew him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
Calvin and Debbie Perkins Fayetteville, Tenn.
