Lela Nadine Hunter, 87, of Bono, AR, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. She was born June 23, 1928 in Cotton Plant, AR to James Robert Littleberry Gilmer and Sallie Melissa Vickery. She owned and operated Grandpa's Restaurant on Gee Street for many years and once it was sold, she was the head cook at the Craighead County Detention Center until retirement.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vivian Hunter, Jr., whom she married on May 25, 1945; a daughter, Linda D. Baxter; and a grandson, Randy Wayne Hunter.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Rosa) Hunter of Temple, TX and Roger Hunter of Bono; grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Hemphill of Jonesboro, Tammy (Jason) Thompson of Paragould and Rance (Whisper) Hunter of Temple; great grandchildren, Logan and Hunter Hemphill of Jonesboro and Riley and Lyvee Hunter of Paragould; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Chapel services will be 3 pm Saturday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington in Jonesboro with visitation from 2:30 pm until time of service. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will include Hansel Stephens, Jason Stephens, Earl Hunter, Robert Hunter, Danny Hunter and Bill Hunter.
