Howard L. Dorton, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Flo and Phil Hospice House. He was born May 19, 1925 in Jonesboro to Albert W. and Bertha King Dorton.
Mr. Dorton was a retired lineman with Craighead Electric Cooperative. He was of the Baptist faith. Howard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II
Preceding him in death was his wife, Orma Amy Groves Dorton, his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include, one son, Mike Dorton of Searcy; two daughters, Jean Rook and Diann Hancock both of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Barry Rook, Dana Jones, Brandon Hancock, Josh Dorton and Myka Galloway; five great grandchildren, Bailey Rook, Katlyn Rook, Sarah Jones, Baylor Hancock and Talin Galloway; two sisters, Dorothy Rainbolt and Betty Watkins both of Jonesboro; and two brothers, Russell Dorton and Doyle Dorton both of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 2:00pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with graveside funeral services following at 2:30pm at Nettleton Cemetery with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Dorton, Josh Dorton, Barry Rook, Brandon Hancock, Lynn Cabe and Scott Ruthven. Honorary pallbearers are past and present employees of Craighead Electric Cooperative.

I am so sorry Howard has passed away. I use to visit with him when I would go to see Zelma. My prayers are with all of you.
I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Dorton's passing. I worked with Mr. Dorton from time to time on various medical insurance issues, and he was always kind and polite. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
