Barbara Ivey Straub, 72, of Jonesboro entered into heaven on Monday, June 11, 2012 to reunite with her mother and father, Ruth and Fred Ivey; her brother, Leroy; her sister, Betty Jane; and her daughter, Michalle Kaylor.

She was born on January 23, 1940. She was raised in Childress and Monette, where she also graduated.

She loved to travel the world from Germany to Vietnam to Turkey and various other places in the United States. She was a loving mother, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Barbara was an avid reader and continued her love of learning throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Patty Throgmartin of Jonesboro and Stephanie McMurray of Jackson, TN; sons, John Straub of Jacksonville, FL, Scott Straub of Jonesboro and Corey Straub of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren, Misty Alberda and Shay Throgmartin of Jonesboro, Audrey Straub of Los Angeles, CA, Stephanie Straub of Jacksonville, FL, Travis McMurray and Mallory McMurray of Memphis, TN, Jennifer Danon Strege of Grand Marsh, WI; great-grandchildren, Noel, Gabrielle and Peyton; close friend and ''sister'', Barbara Gray; and her extended family.

A special thank you to her friend, Kay Sanders. Her family would like to recognize the first responders including the firefighters from Station No. 3, Medic One, the NEA Baptist Emergency staff, Connie Jones and her family, Danny Throgmartin, and Cathy Vuncannon.

Barbara's memorial will take place at 1:00 pm Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, 1021 New Hope Lane in Jonesboro with Don Vuncannon officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
