Julian Lee Burgess, III, 69, of Maumelle, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2012. He was born September 23, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas, a son of Mayme Nell Rochelle and Julian L. Burgess, Jr. He was a 1959 graduate of England High School, Co-Owner of Delta Gin Company, Co-Owner of Land Improvement Company, Director of Ginning Operations for F&W Agri Services in Albany, Georgia for 12 years, and a farmer for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and current member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. He was on the Board of Directors of First Electric for 25 years and Board of Directors of the Arkansas Cotton Warehouse. He was preceded in death by his parents. He enjoyed his family, hunting, farming, and car racing.
He is survived by loving wife, Gloria Gibbs Burgess; two sons, Julian L. Burgess, IV, of Maumelle, and John Barton Burgess and his wife, Vicki, of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Joseph, Dylan, Jake, Maggie and Jude; one brother, Danny K. Burgess of Tomberlin; sister-in-law, Rosemary Francisco of Maumelle; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Felicia Williams and the staff at St. Andrews Nursing and Rehab for their care and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Roller-England Funeral Home, (501)842-3939, followed by a memorial service in the chapel of the funeral home.

Gloria, just read of Butch's going to join his childhood running buddy, Ron Hearon. Ron respected,thought a lot of him and considered him a dear friend. I'm sure you don't remember me, but you were both very lovable people who welcomed me into your lives. Just wanted you to know my thoughts, prayers are with you in your time of sorrow and know God and your friends and family will help you through and keep you strong!

Dear Gloria; So many years have gone by... Remember me? Patsy Word... we use to run around with Bobby Ward.. my husband was on his Pit Crew... You and Butch came to Albuquerque and Amarillo several times to race and watch races. I have pictures of Butch and his race car... aww goes back to 63&64. I'm so sorry to hear about Butch. My thoughts and Prayers goes out to you and your family. Bobbilue sent me a message, that is how I heard. Hon..hang in there, I lost W.A. 17 years ago.. it's not easy, but with your Christian friends and your family you will make it... and knowing Butch is in Heaven . God Bless you my dear. Gloria and family. I was so sad to read about Butch but knowing he is in the arms of Jesus is conforting. I grew up with Butch from about 5 years of age thru high school. He was a wonderful caring man who made an impact on all who knew him. I am sorry I cannot attend his service but you will be in my prayers tomorrow. Love to you all.
