Alfred Aaron Newman, age 85 departed from this life on June 23, 2018. He was born January 29, 1933, to Fred and Eva Leona (Fox) Newman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Hobart, William ''Bill'', Perry ''Burl'', Ray and Sherman; 1 sister, Pearl Moore; 1 step-daughter: Susan Tarin; 1 step-grandson: William Prater.

Alfred was a devoted Christian. He attended Trace Ridge Bible Church where he taught Sunday School and occasionally preached. He was an integral part of his church and community. He served as Youth Director at Bible Baptist Temple of Tulsa. Alfred was very active in his community. He was instrumental in forming the Chimes Fire Department. He served on the board, was a firefighter and first responder for many years. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master and coached softball for underprivileged youth in Tulsa while his boys were growing up.

Alfred served his country in both the Navy and Army from 1955-1963. He received a Good Conduct Medal for his service in the Army.Alfred worked as a master machinist at several different machine shops over the years. He worked for Aeromotive in Clinton for over 30 years. Alfred will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Pamela Kurtz Newman of the home; 2 brothers: Willie Clell Newman of Oologah OK, Herman Newman of Terlton OK, 2 sisters: Annie Mae Anderson of Oldfield MO, Audrey Faye Fox of Fayetteville AR; 2 sons, Chris Newman of Claremore OK and Steve Newman of Tulsa OK; 4 step-daughters: Cindi Schroeder of Chimes AR; Stephanie Schroeder of Leslie AR, Barbara Schroeder of Schaumburg IL and Pamela Schroeder of Chimes AR; 2 step-sons: Herbert Schroeder II of Colorado Springs CO; Charles Schroeder of Schaumburg IL. Also survived by Herbert ''Herbie'' Schroeder III, a grandson that Alfred and Pamela raised; 33 other grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and family.

Visitation is 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Roller- McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Trace Ridge Bible Church in Dennard, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Trace Ridge Cemetery.

I loved Uncle Al so much, he was such a comfort to me and my sisters when our nana (his sister) was diagnosed and later died of cancer. His smile could fill a room and make any dark day, brighter. I wish I could be with you all as you say your final goodbyes, but distance prevents that. Just know how much I loved him and all of you as you grieve the loss of one of the best.
