Buddy Ferren

of Clinton, AR

May 13, 1930 - February 12, 2018

Elmer ''Buddy'' Ferren, 87, of Clinton, passed away February 12, 2018. Buddy worked most of his life in furniture manufacturing, and spent his later years making walking canes and staffs. He enjoyed giving his canes to anyone in need of them. He taught martial arts for 31 years, and never charged for his classes. It was important to him to teach people how to protect themselves. He was a servant to everyone and took pleasure in doing for others. Buddy's greatest joy was his family. All his life he put their needs above his own. He loved the Lord and was a wonderful example of how a Christian should live. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alma Ferren, and sister, Gearldine Treat.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie Jean Ferren; son, Bob Ferren and wife Beth; daughter, Deanie Jackson and husband Glyen; adopted family, Carole and Tonny Yeung; Grandchildren, John and Lori Ferren, Thomas Yeung, Kevin and Brandi Sanchez, Chris Sanchez, Eric and Keri Ferren, Jonathan and Judith Jackson, Emily and Colton Gregory and Josh Ferren; 5 great grandchildren and another on the way. Buddy was looking forward to the birth of his new great grandbaby.
Visitation is at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00 am, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. Pallbearers are Buddy's grandsons: John Ferren, Eric Ferren, Kevin Sanchez, Chris Sanchez, Jonathan Jackson, Josh Ferren, and Colton Gregory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. A way to honor Buddy would be to love your family, do good things for others, and grow in your walk with the Lord.
Arrangements are entrusted to Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas.

Billie ,

Sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Thank-you and Mr."Buddy" for the influence you had in my life as a child. You taught me how to sing the books of the New Testament and I can still do it today. Mr. "Buddy" was one of our Sunday School teachers and had great patients. Your son always won the "scripture walk"- he was smart and remembered more than all of us in Children's Church. These memories are from New Summit Church of God-Rev. John Best-and many years ago.
May God give you strength and encourage you.

(I am Linda (Bearden) Green. I still live close to New Summit Church and continue to work at Saline Memorial Hospital as a RN for 30+ years.)

Deanie, Bobby and all the family: my prayers are with you all during these and coming days. Buddy was an example for all of us to follow. I have been remembering lots of things from YEARS ago. Some of my best memories when I was growing up , are of Buddy and Billie and all the Ferren’s. I am so thankful that Peggy and I got to visit with them last summer! It sure brought back some good memories. Lots of love for a great man and will always cherish my walking stick he gave me! Frances

Bob, Deanie, Son, and family. My heart goes out to you and I am praying for our Lord to comfort each of you. Buddy ( dad) will always be my dad in my eyes. I have always loved and respected him. Dad helped raise John throughout his life as a grandfather and dad when Bob was not available due to distance. Buddy guided him and helped to make John who he is today, a man who loves the Lord and who is a great husband, father, and son. I will always remember him taking John fishing at maybe 2 years old and helping him catch a fish, making John a motorcycle called “Minz” out of a tree stump on the first cabin he built. I remember working in his shop, his karate, bi,e riding, and his love for family and others. Buddy and Billie helped my sisters and brother and my mom. Renee went to live with them one summer and she still remembers it. They led so many people to the Lord. Dad was always so easy going, and I could discuss anything with him. I remember Buddy and Billie coming to every single football game that John had in N. Little Rock traveling all the way fromCrabtree each time. They helped John thru college. Dad counseled me several times when I needed advice or was saddened by life’s events. He single handedly built two homes! I remember him always buying flowers for Billie on their anniversary and his love for his mom Granny Ferren and sister Aunt Geraldine. I remember him looking down lovung JJohn as a baby and his smiles. Buddy and Billie were always helping their family and others. I will always remember his voice, his smiles, his love and kindness. What a great legacy he has left for all his grandchildren. Buddy, I will see you again and sad that I can’t visit you when i visit Arkansas. All my life long friends loved you too dad. I was so happy you saw John get married and the birth of Posey and Parker. Love you dad. Sincerely, Doris Helen
