Fritz was the son of Arthur and Amy Belle Crouch of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He spent his childhood years on a farm in Illinois with his twin brother Frank, and brothers: Carl, George and sister: Betty, Bertha, Margarette Ann, and Charlotte. Fritz joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 in 1952. Fritz was in the Navy for 22 years, most of the time in the submarine service, and retired a Senior Chief Torpedoman. Fritz met Wanda Juanita McMorris while stationed in Hawaii. They eloped and married in Oklahoma on December 10,1959. To the union they had one son, Craig Arthur Crouch. Fritz retired from the Navy in 1971 and worked for two companies in Maryland. Fritz was a Master electrician and taught vocational electricity in high school. He only lasted a year at that job since the high school kids did not appreciate military discipline. After twenty years he retired second time in 1991. Fritz and Nita fell in love with Arkansas while they were in Buena Vista for a family reunion. They moved to Heber Springs the same year. Fritz bought a pontoon boat and became a guide on the Little Red River for 9 years. Fritz was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. During his retirement, he delivered Meal on Wheels for several years in Heber Springs. Fritz was an active member of First Baptist Church Sugar Loaf in Higden. Fritz loved going to FBCSL to hear the word of God. He looked forward to teaching Sunday school and assisted in various activities at the church.
