Almedia Martha Howard

of Clinton, AR

March 19, 1925 - August 24, 2016

Almedia Martha Howard, at the age of ninety-one years and five months, left this earthly home on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016. She was born March 19th, 1925, in Bethpage, NY, to Milton and Mary Sturgeon.

On December 16th, 1943, Almedia became the loving wife of Chester Ewing Howard. Although they resided many years in Illinois, Chester and Almedia chose Clinton, AR, as their home during their final years of retirement.

Happy to serve in any capacity, Almedia spent her life being a loving wife and mother as well as a doting grandmother. In April of 2005 after 61 years of marriage, Chester E. Howard passed from this life, leaving Almedia in the care of their five children. Through the years, Almedia always found a way to show her love for the Lord and Savior by helping others. During the last few years of her active social life and as long as her health allowed, she attended the New Life Apostolic Church of Clinton, AR, under Pastor W.C. Norris.

Almedia was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Howard,Sr., her mother and her father, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one brother, John F. Sturgeon of Manito, IL; four sons and one daughter: Chester ( Margie) Howard Jr. of Manito, IL; Lawrence (Glenda) Howard of Clinton, AR; Muriel (Kenny) Evans of Morrilton, AR; Hayden (Bonnie) Howard of Trenton, TN; and Melvin (Kathy) Howard of Granville, OH. Along with her thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild, Almedia will be greatly missed by extended family members as well as many friends. As a special blessing to those who yet linger here, the cherished memories of a loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend, who always had a sparkle in her eyes, a cheerful countenance, a sweet uncomplaining nature, and a delightful quick wit will never fade.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am, and Funeral Services at 11:00 am at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton on Monday August 29, 2016. Interment will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery in Mountain View.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the faithful care and kindness shown to Almedia during her time of residence and especially during this special time of farewell to the residential nursing staff and care aides of the Ozark Health Nursing Home as well as to Dr. Coward's staff and to the Hospice Home Care Unit.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. For online guestbook, www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/clinton.

Please accept my condolences for the passing of your dear loved one. When someone we love dies, the heartache and grief can be great. I hope that you can be comforted knowing that God cares for you and sees your pain. (1 Peter 5:7) "He is close to the brokenhearted and He saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) May you find comfort and relief during this grievous time, as you cherish the precious memories of Almedia.
