February 18, 1963 - March 1, 2015
Jeff ''Moon'' McKnight 52, of Bee Branch, Arkansas died March 1st, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Jeff was born February 18th, 1963 in Conway, AR to Joy Smith McKnight and the late Jamie McKnight, Sr.. He graduated from Southside High School and attended Westark Community College in Fort Smith, AR. Jeff was an accomplished athlete and played college baseball and professional baseball throughout his career. His professional baseball career included six seasons in the major leagues with the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Mets. Jeff was a ''utility'' player and could play any position on the field. His hard work and dedication allowed him to succeed in baseball and life. He was a quiet, gentle soul and loved spending time with family and friends playing games and reminiscing. He found humor in everyday life and always had a witty remark even in his last days. His two sons were his proudest accomplishment and he loved them dearly. Jeff had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and he will be missed.
Jeff was met at Heaven's gates by his late father, and his recently departed brother, Jimbo McKnight.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew Dylan McKnight and Samuel Garret McKnight of Fort Smith, his mother Joy Smith McKnight, his brother Jack McKnight, his sisters, JoAnne Beaulieu, Jill Boeckmann and Jackie Treat. He has numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews that loved him dearly and will miss him.
There will be a Memorial Service honoring his life at 2:00 pm Friday, March 6th, 2015 at Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church in Bee Branch, Arkansas with Pastor Kirk Hardy officiating. A fellowship and visitation with the family will follow the service.
Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas. Online guest book: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
So terribly sorry to learn about Jeff's passing. Another McKnight baseball brother. I enjoyed watching him play major league ball on TV, when he was a utility player with the Mets! R.I.P., Jeff!
Condolences to the family.
Jeff was one of the best I ever played with or against. He was an outstanding athlete, and a fierce competitor. I hated playing against him because any team he was on was going to be tough to beat. The few games we played on the same team were enjoyable for the same reason. He made everyone around him better.
If there is baseball in heaven, I'm positive he is scooping everything hit to his side of the field.
Saddened to hear this bad news. Had a bunch of good times. Playin ball, golf, fishin, huntin.........RIP White Fox.
So Sorry to hear about Jeff. I know Jim was
so worried about him. I always worried that
Jim would never be able to take Jeff's passing.
I guess one blessing in Jim's passing is that
he did not have to see Jeff pass. You are all in
my prayers.
Oh I loved you! My last seeing you was Aunt Sandra,s buried. There we all were, together, so saddened, and you walked to me, with gleem, put both your hands on my shoulders, and shook them as you spoke, I love you, Joni. We shared in a quiet moment, Then Jimbo walked past, he too looked up and loved. But Jefff, well his eyes in my eyes, nothing to compare. We had great memories of few in Nashville that I got to experience with my cousins, and I must say, those were my Best times"
I am saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. I had not seen Jeff in several years since one of our class reunions, so I am glad to know that he had accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. When we were in school, just about everybody went to church in those days, so you assumed that they were saved. I appreciate knowing that Jeff made the most important decision of all in giving his life to Christ and that I will see him again one day. God bless all of the family during this time and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Words cannot express how sorry I am. Losing two sons is terrible and I pray for God's Grace to be a double portion for the family. Good times and good memories we can hold on to, and share with other loved ones, and hopefuly see them again in heaven with alot of other friends and family.
