Conard Earl ''Pete'' Welch, 89, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma formerly of Cave City, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, in DeQueen, Arkansas. Born October 5, 1924, in Cushman, Arkansas, he was the son of Thomas Jefferson Welch and Emma Birdie Carter Welch.

As a young man, he worked as a ranch hand and in the mines at Cushman. He served as a cook in the Army during World War II. He worked at ATI and then retired with GenCorp in the maintenance department. Pete enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a longtime member and deacon of Mount View Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City and was a current member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Broken Bow.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Curtis and her husband, Greg; two grandchildren, Bryant Curtis and Logan Curtis, all of Broken Bow; a sister, Carlene Hicks of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Foley Welch; a brother, W. T. Welch; and a sister, Faye Vance.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Mount View Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Vance Penn officiating.

Burial will be at Mount View Cemetery in Cave City under the direction of Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Welch, Tommy Hicks, Bill Goforth, Ron Simpson, Roger Foley and Allen Reding. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Hickman, David Hickman, and Kenny Vance.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the funeral home.
