Silas W. Ogilvie, 81, of Melbourne, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born in Cave City, Arkansas on January 6, 1935 and was the son of Silas King Ogilvie and Mary Sue (Hutchinson) Ogilvie.
Silas retired from Boeing as a fabricator. He served in the Navy at the end of the Korean War, and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. He loved hunting, making knives, playing the guitar with his friends, and he was also a gun smith. Spending time with his family was what he loved the most.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gay (Grills) Ogilvie of Melbourne; two sons, Keith Ogilvie and wife, Alison, of Illinois and Michael Ogilvie and wife, Cindy, of Melbourne; two daughters, Sonya Dockins of Melbourne and Christy Haley and husband, Eddie, also of Melbourne; six grandchildren, Aleisha Faivre, Andria Ogilvie, Zachary Dockins, Keeley Jo Massey, Abbey Orf, and Andrew Haley. Other survivors include his sister, Lena Byler of Melbourne; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Jean Smith.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Bro. Gene Baird and Bro. Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ogilvie, Tim Shrable, Jamie Kelley, Danny Smith, Blake Ogilvie, and Craig Ogilvie. Honorary pallbearers are Hank Moser, Cub Rush, Ron Jones, Gerald Cooper, and Ray Ford.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
