Alex DeSalvo, 93, of Marianna, Arkansas passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home in Marianna. He was born October 2, 1920, the son of Louis and Linzy DeSalvo, in Catholic Point Community, Center Ridge, Arkansas.
He is survived by one son, Vince (Nada) DeSalvo of Marianna and a daughter, Jan (Eddie) Kirby of Cabot, Arkansas; three grandchildren Ilyse (Chris) Howard, Dina DeSalvo and Chris Kirby; two great-grandchildren , Seth and Emma Howard; and one sister, Lucille Rains.
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Loretta, and two sisters, Josephine Strasner and Rose Marie Clay.
Alex served as a flight instructor in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a retired automobile dealer.
Memorial may be made to Lee County Community Foundation, c/o Lucy Smith 130 Robertson Ave. Marianna, AR 72360 or to the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Diviision, Lee Unit, P. O. Box 251977, Little Rock, AR 72225-1957.
Services will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 1:00 P. M. at Roller-Citizens Chapel. Burial will follow at Marianna Memorial Park with Brother Todd Maino and the Reverend Arnold Hearn officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Sunday, also at the chapel.
Vince, Nada, Jan, Eddie and all the family, my deepest sympathy to everyone. I have many wonderful memories of your visits especially in the summertime when he & Dad went fishing at Lake Conway and then the fish fry at either our house or at Uncle Lewis & Aunt Linzy's house. I will never forget the many kindnesses from he & your Mom. And his cigars!! I know they are all having a great reunion in Heaven. My prayers and love are will all of you .
Vince, Jan and family, I am sossorry to learn of your dad's death. What beautiful memories I have of all the times we spent together growing up. He was as kind and sweet as Aunt Linz. Hope he has cigars in heaven, and he, daddy, mother and Loretta are getting to visit. Know I love you and are praying for you. I got to talk to him when your mom died. Love you. I am so sorry about your precious Dad, what wonderful memories I have of him and his cigars!! He is one of the sweetest people I know.

Mr DeSalvo you will be missed, you were a great neighbor and always had home grown tomatoes for mother and for me when I came home. May you rest in peace and be reunited with Loretta with our Heavenly Father.
