Norma Mae Wilson Rodgers

September 9, 1938 - January 4, 2018

Norma Mae Wilson Rodgers passed away on January 4, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 79.

Norma was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on September 9, 1938. A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, she graduated from Bossier High School in 1956 and went on to Louisiana Tech where she met her husband of 60 years, Robert Rodgers. Norma and Robert had four boys and spent most of their lives in Shreveport before moving to Arkansas to retire.

Norma played the French horn in the high school band and was voted ''Wittiest Girl'' by her classmates. She loved to cook, sew, play tennis, and teach aerobics. She passed on her love of the arts, music, and movies to her sons and later, her beloved daughters-in-law whom she welcomed into the family as her own. Her sense of humor and smile lit up the room and brought levity to all occasions. She shared a close bond with her two sisters, and no one has ever laughed more than the three of them when they were together.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Norborne and Wilda Wilson; son, Robert Louis Rodgers, Jr. and sisters, Wilda Wilson Baker and Kathe Wilson Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Louis Rodgers; sons: Kevin Scott Rodgers and wife, Sarai of Little Rock, AR; Craig Allan Rodgers and wife, Kathy of Southlake, TX; and Earl Norborne Rodgers and wife, Sue of Aspen, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren: Candice Rodgers Hillman and husband, Justin; Courtney Christine Rodgers; Robert Brantley Rodgers and wife, Jessica, Peyton Elizabeth Price Rodgers, Waylon Elias Rodgers; and Benjamin Banks and great-grandson, Asher David Hillman.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm with Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm, Monday, January 8, 2018 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501)224-8300. A Celebration of Norma's life will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 295 Balearic Road, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Norma can be made to Alzheimer's Association, Attn: Debbie Hayes, 910 Pierremont Road, Suite 410, Shreveport, LA 71106 or Alzheimer's Association of Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Suite 100, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Dear Norma who saved me from blowing away in a wind storm when I was six years old. I will always love you and remember the good times we had together.

Norma was such a fun cousin! I loved going to Bossier City and visiting my Uncle Norbie’s house and playing with cousins Kathy, Norma and Widdie as a young girl. I wish I could be there Monday to celebrate her life,

My mom Peggy and Norma were close cousins. My mom has Alzheimer's and doesnt remember much anymore but I remember the love she had for all her Wilson family. I know she would be so sad at Norma's passing. Our love and prayers got out to the whole family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Norma’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW
