W.G. RobertsI am a Veteran.

March 23, 1935 - December 10, 2017

W.G. Roberts, of Little Rock, passed away at his home with his family by his side on December 10, 2017. He was born on March 23, 1935 in Bremen, Kentucky to Jesse E. Roberts and Grace Mae Neal.

He was a devoted Christian and member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Little Rock, Arkansas. Gayle was a proud American and served his country in the Army with utmost pride. He was an amazing magician. It brought him so much joy to perform his tricks for family, friends and co-workers. He always found time to serve on the school board, baseball board and to coach little league throughout his life while being a dedicated and valued employee for AT&T for over 30 years, until his retirement. One of his true passions was baseball. He was an avid Cardinals fan and that passion began when Gayle was a pitcher in the minor leagues. Every winter for years, Gayle loved going to their home in Tucson, Arizona. He loved the weather, swimming and golfing. Gayle loved to sit in the recliner with his beloved little dog, Jinxy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Florence Roberts; his son, Michael Steven Roberts of Rogers, Arkansas; daughter, Karen Roberts Boorboor; son-in-law, Fred Boorboor of New Orleans, Louisiana.; and cherished grandson, Matthew Sean Roberts of Bentonville, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the funeral home.

I sorry to hear about Gayle's passing I don't take the paper so I just found out today (12/23/17) from Rabbit up at SAMS that he had passed.
I knew he had been ill the last time I talked with him he was not feeling very well at that time; Florence you have my deepest sympathy; again I apologize for getting to you so late.

Dear Florence & Family,
We will continue thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers during this very difficult time. I have known Gayle for 47+ years. During Gayle's career at the Teletype Corp., we worked closely together in the same organizations on several occasions. After Gayle retired, we even worked together again when he provided High Performance Team training for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. Gayle's expertise in electro-mechanical manufacturing plus his magic tricks served him well in being an exceptional training instructor. Gayle was a personal friend in addition to being a professional associate. It is an honor to have known and worked with him. Both Pat and I will dearly miss Gayle!

It was nice to see the Teletype retiree turn out for the service. It was good to shake hands of old friends, only wish it would have been under better circumstances. Gayle and Flo have been our friends for more than 40 years and Gayle will be sorely missed.

Beautiful service, loved that the minister included jokes, that Gayle himself, had sent him a few years back! Mike did a fine job of reminiscing about his dad and all the hats he wore. Sorry for the family's loss and he is at peace.

I want you to know how much the relationship between my dad and Gayle meant to my mom and Dad.
He spoke of Gayle and Florence often. It was always clear that their friendship went pass that of friends and into a love for each other.
God bless you all.

Florence, I'm so sorry to hear about Gayle's passing. He fought a hard battle and you were with him every step of the way. I worked with Gayle for many years and he was a wonderful teacher, and friend. I always enjoyed going to the monthly Pioneer lunches and always laughed when he told a joke! We will all miss his him and know you will miss him more.
