Berta Ann Bohn Blagg

November 7, 1942 - August 15, 2017

Berta Ann Bohn Blagg, 74, of Maumelle passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was born in Little Rock on November 7, 1942 to Wanda Kerr Bohn and Herman G. Bohn who both pre decease her along with a brother, T.O. Hagar and her Aunt Rochelle Stephens.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 54 years, Chancy Blagg of Maumelle; two daughters, Cristi Angela of Atkins and Candi Langmaid of Little Rock. She also leaves the three loves of her life; grandson Chance Blagg of Maumelle, granddaughter Lauren Langmaid of Maumelle, and grandson Lyndon Langmaid of Little Rock.

Other survivors are her sister, Sharon Meadows of Greers Ferry, AR; her brother, David Bohn and wife Kathy of Marion, OH; uncle, C.H. Kerr and wife Carol of Hensley, AR; along with nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, all of which she made every effort to stay in contact with over the years.

Berta was self-employed as an accountant and tax preparer taking over for her mother, Wanda Kerr's business when she passed away in 1991. Between Berta and her mother, they had clients dating back as far as 1964 who had become dear friends as well.

In 1978 Berta joined the Little Rock Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, later renamed the Top of the Rock chorus. She sang baritone with the chorus for 25 years. She said it was the best thing that she had ever done. Being a member of this organization built a sense of pride and accomplishment. Performing, traveling and building new friendships all through the love of singing. Her quartet, More Than Friends was what the true sisterhood of this organization is about.
Sometimes friends become family''¦ and she leaves very special friends, they all know who they are.

Berta loved life, her family and her extended ''adopted'' family including several ''sons'' and ''daughters'' who affectionately called her ''Momma.''
She will be greatly missed and loved forever.

A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock AR 72211. Visitation will be one hour before the service, starting at 2:00 p.m.

My heart goes out to you all (Chancy, Candi and Cristi and family). Chancy as we agreed, the mold was broken when Berta was born. I know she was your best friend for life and the love of your life. As a result of that love you have a wonderful family you can look at every day and see..............Berta! You all take care and know you have a 'village' of support out here. Sending you my best, Toni

Chancy and family: Berta was like another big sister, Brenda loved her so much, and was always telling me stories of things her and Berta would do. There friendship was so special. Berta was like family. Losing Brenda in Oct, and now losing Berta is like losing another part of my beloved sister.
My love and prayers during this time, I know it is so hard. She is resting without that pain in Jesus arms.
I hope you understand , it is to hard on us to come to the funeral just too close of losing Brenda.
Love y'all.

I only knew Berta for a short while about 60 years ago. I was just a neighbor kid that wanted to hang around Berta and Chancy while they were dating. I'm sure I was a nuisance. Berta and I reconnected last year on Facebook and some of her posts were hilarious. She would post pictures of Chancy I'm sure he wouldn't want posted. That was Berta's way. She was full of mischief and good times. My prayers are with the family, especially Chancy. After cherishing someone for 54 years, it will take a long time for this to heal. Love to the family!

My wife and I became friends with Berta the first time we met. She proclaimed My family as her adopted family, that meant so much to us all. She will be missed, our separation is only temporary. May God bless her and her entire family.

Berta will be missed by her former classmates. I reconnected with her at a class reunion. It was such a joy to revisit our common interest in music. She brighten the mood when attending our brunch bunch gatherings. We will all miss this lovely lady. Our prayers are with each member of your family.

To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up listening to my mom tell stories of her friendship with Berta. I finally met Berta after I was married when she began to prepare our taxes. I continued for many years to listen to stories from my mom up until I lost her late last year. I was able to talk with Berta again at her service. Hopefully, she and my mom can get together now reminisce.
