Jackie "Jack" Lee McDaniel, 75, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed on February 25, 2017. He was born on May 22, 1941, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, as the third of nine children. He was retired from the United States Army as Sergeant Major after thirty two years of service with two tours in Vietnam, earning him the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Hetzel McDaniel of Little Rock, his daughter Misty Lee (Paul) Thorson of Rowlett, TX, his son Gregory Lee (Diana) McDaniel of Little Rock, and five grandchildren, Macie, Karlie, and Levi Thorson, and London and Knox McDaniel. He is also survived by many loving brothers, sisters, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Orville McDaniel, and mother, Ozetia Baxter, his brother, James, and his sister, Juanita.
Jack was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is respected as a role model of service to his country and his family. He spent his final years volunteering with his trained therapy dog, Gracie, for Arkansas Hospice where he was named Arkansas Hospice Volunteer of the Year in 2008. Jack and Gracie walked many miles together on the Bona Dea trail in Russellville, AR. He enjoyed sunshine, fishing with grandchildren, hunting, and being outdoors. He leaves a legacy of patriotism and service to America.
Committal service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home; 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501) 224-8300.
