of Little Rock, AR
October 4, 1948 - February 19, 2017
Phillip Wylie fell asleep in death, though not without a fight, on February 19, 2017, surrounded by family both adopted and blood. Born on October 4, 1948 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Phil was the eldest of 5 boys--Dorothy and Bill Wylie's only child for exactly one year and one day.
His long career of hard work began at age five when he was up with the sun to milk the cows before walking to school. At age eight he was promoted to brakeless log truck driver. At the age of 19 he began work for AFCO Metals, a stint that would span nearly 47 years, and prove him both a loyal employee and the archetype of a selfless provider. Though successful by all secular standards, the treasure at the heart of Phil's life was most certainly his faith which guided him in everything. Phil dedicated himself to Jehovah and was baptized as one of his Witnesses on February 20, 1968. Not long afterwards he met his match in Sara Bowie and fell hard. Sara and Phil were to have two children and Phil taught them both a love of the outdoors and the beauty of a compassionate heart. In 1985 the family moved to Southern California where they would make lifelong friends before returning to Little Rock two years later. It was to be a permanent homecoming. Friends, family, and people who only briefly made his acquaintance, knew him as a man who respected and encouraged those he met. All will miss his charm, his characteristic warmth.
Phil is survived by his wife Sara; his daughter, Brooke; his son, Michael, their spouses, Mike and Lizette; and his two grandchildren, Jack and Jude who will greatly miss those trips to the barber followed by milkshakes.
A memorial of Phillip Wylie's life will be held Saturday, February 25, at 1 p.m. at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock AR (501) 224-8300.
I greatly miss him even though it was 2 years ago it is hard to believe it have been that long without him.
I will greatly miss grandpa and all those visits to the barber. I will miss all the times I rode on his tractor with him. He was the first one to hold me (besides my parents). But I know and have faith, Jehovah will resurrect him in the new system. He knew and had faith. We will all miss him for the sad period of time we don't get to see him. (Acts 24:15; Revelation 21:3, 4)
Prayers of comfort for the family. May you find reassurance and comfort in Rev. 21:4.
Sara and family we send our sincere sympathy.
Phil was such a great guy and he will be missed.

To the Wylie Family
Sara I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear husband, friend and a father. Soon Jehovah promises of death, suffering will be a reality when we will enjoy seeing the resurrection of all our dear love ones. His word is a guarantee. Ps 55:22 and Phil knew that. He will be missed by all the Friends and especially in North West Congregation. So my dear Sara and Family we will see him soon.

We are deeply sorry for the loss of such a loving person as Phil. At the same time, comforted in knowing he is in the best hands possible, our Heavenly Father, Jehovah's. He has won and is now resting, waiting to be awakened, by our Lord & King Jesus Christ. Your all in our thoughts & prayers.

Our memories of cousin Phil were always of a man who was very bright, engaging and funny. We will never forget when Phil, Don and Randy slept on our hotel room floor during our 1969 International Convention in Atlanta, GA. Phil kept us in stitches long after the lights went out. And, of course, he was always one of the bright stars of those memorable Holiman family reunions. We eagerly look forward to welcoming Phil and our other departed loved ones in the resurrection that Jehovah guarantees!
Love,
Ron & Sharon Firmin and Aunt Pink (Vivian)
God bless your soul. We are saddened by our loss, but the good Lord has gained a new angel.
