Phillip BullingtonI am a Veteran.

February 28, 1943 - November 23, 2016

On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, I lost my best friend and soulmate, Phillip Bullington.

We lived, loved and shared 53 wonderful years together to say I will miss him is almost more than I can bear. Our journey started together while we both were in college, his height and good looks attracted me. As I got to know Phil his wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life made me realize I wanted to be with him the rest of my life.

Our journey started with Phil enlisting in the US Army and through them became an X-ray technician and with that position, we traveled to Alaska after our marriage in June 1965. We spent two years there and enjoyed the beautiful state. From there we were assigned to Europe for 6 wonderful years. Phil worked at a "small" hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, not so small now. Getting out of the Army in 1969, we became "civilians" and made our home in Santa Barbara, California. Phil then went to work at Cottage Hospital in the X-ray department as a technician and assistant chief of the department. We spent 10 wonderful years there before Phil joined the Eastman Kodak Company in 1980. His knowledge of film, sales and X-ray, made him a "natural" in marketing Kodak film etc. Being with a large company, we again traveled to many places. Of course, Rochester New York and then on to Whittier, California. Our last stop while working was Dallas, Texas. While living in Texas, we vacationed in Arkansas because of the beautiful state with all the lakes, trees and nature. We built a home and loved the state and its wonderful people. While living here, Phil accepted the Lord. With a diagnosis of cancer, he became strong, knowing that the Lord was at his side. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: National Cancer Institute c/o "Cancer Moonshot", BG 9609MSC 9760, 9609 Medical Center Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892-9760, (Joe Biden Project)

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com

Jan, so sorry for your loss. It's difficult to lose a spouse, but losing your best friend as well is so very hard. I'm sure he was comforted by your loving attention and care as he fought so bravely.

Phil was such a wonderful person. He was always so positive and had a great sense of humor! We met in water aerobics and every time I would walk into the swimming area I would look for Jan and Phil. When I saw them there, I knew it was going to be a great time because they were such a fun, loving couple. Jan, I am so very sorry that Phil is no longer by your side but know this, he has spread his wings and gently floated like his beloved Monarchs. Love and Peace, Susie and Johnny

To the Family of Mr. Bullington: I read of your loss, and I would like to extend my condolences. Although we have not met personally, my family can empathize with what you are feeling at this time (I have been in treatment since 2010- not that it eases the pain you are feeling). May you find a measure of comfort in knowing of Our Creator's (Psalms 83:18) wonderful promises for the near future, stated at Isaiah 33:24; John 5:25-29 and Revelation 21:4,5. Until then, may your cherished, loving memories and the comfort from Our Creator, strengthen you during the very difficult days ahead (Philippians 4:6,7,13). I respectfully extend my sincere condolences.

Phil was an easy person to like. He was friendly, smiling and a person you wanted to be around. His humor could be disarming and yet he was sincere in his committment to getting things done. I know his family and friends along with we who worked with him will miss him greatly.
