of Little Rock, AR

January 10, 1919 - October 11, 2016

Cook Lloyd Crittendon, 97, passed away October 11, 2016 in Little Rock. He was born January 10, 1919 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Ernest Lee Crittendon and Rhoda Annable Hall Crittendon. After graduating high school in Rush Springs, he earned a degree in Agronomy from Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma in December 1941. Immediately upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp, in which he served during World War Il in North Africa and Italy. While on leave in 1945, in Tampa, Florida, working on discharge papers, he met Mary Bailiff, whom he married on July 15, 1946.

He was in sales during his working career, selling cotton gin machinery for The Murray Company of Texas for over twenty years, and then heavy equipment for Conley-Lott-Nichols Machinery Company for 18 years. His work took him and his family to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; Ft. Worth, Paris, and McAllen, Texas; Bakersfield and Fresno, California; Dallas and Lubbock, Texas. In 2006, he and Mary moved to Little Rock, where they lived at Shepherd's Cove. Cook was an honest, fun, hard-working extrovert, and loved to travel, fish and camp. He spoke ill of no one, and made friends everywhere he went. A man of faith, he was always an active church member, most recently at Immanuel Baptist Church.

His wife, Mary in December 2014, and his son, Paul, in December 2002, preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Bob Calvin Crittendon in 1967, George Hall Crittendon in 1997, and his sister, Helen Crittendon McConnell in June 2016. He is survived by a brother, Lynn Hampton Crittendon of Valentine, Texas; a daughter, Dr. Carol Crittendon-Meadors (Dr. Fred Meadors) of Little Rock, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Crittendon Welker of Dallas; and five grandchildren: Joshua L. Crittendon of San Mateo, California; Andrew P. Crittendon (Nicole Norman Crittendon) of Austin, Texas; Alexander C. Crittendon of Oakland, California; Dr. Steven F. Meadors (Dr. Kevan Beth Tucker Meadors) of Dallas, Texas; and Natalie C. Meadors of Los Angeles, California.
