Eric Gregory Schlack

of Little Rock, AR

September 20, 1950 - August 17, 2016

Eric Gregory Schlack, 65, of Little Rock passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 after a hard fought battle against Bladder Cancer. He was born September 20,1950 in Detroit, Michigan. His parents, Dr. Elgin L. Schlack and Nathalien (Nan) Etson Schlack preceded him in death. Eric is survived by his wife of 34 years Anne Smith Schlack, son Reid Andrew Schlack, brother-in-law Charles Smith (Beth) of Arkadelphia and a host of other "adopted" family members in Arkansas and Alaska.

Eric lived with his family in Owosso, Michigan until the age of 9 before moving to Mesa, Arizona where he would graduate Mesa High School in 1968. A summer job with family friends in North Little Rock would bring him to Arkansas. He stayed after his job ended to attend Henderson State College in Arkadelphia. Eric graduated Henderson in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While attending college he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity.

Eric was employed with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as a Sales Specialist. He loved his job, co-workers and most of all the staff and doctors he has called on over the years. Eric recently commented after seeing co-workers at a lunch meeting "I really miss my job." Another special love was his son Reid. He was so proud of Reid's accomplishments as raising a son can be difficult at times. Eric was an only child helping to raise an only child. He leaves behind good work ethics and personal values as a legacy to his son.

The family would like to extend a special Thanks to Dr. Richard Heck, Dr. Ron Kuhn, Dr. Brad Baltz and the awesome caring staff at CARTI who together helped in Eric's Cancer Journey. In addition to his medical team, the support and encouragement of family, friends and his many co-workers at AstraZeneca is greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Eric will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity close to your heart. Cremation services were entrusted to Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR (501)224-8300

Anne and Reid,

It seems impossible somehow that Eric is gone. He seemed larger than life in his kind and gentle way. His love for his family and friends was demonstrated in so many subtle and self-sacrificing ways. I will miss him more than I can say. I am praying for your comfort and healing from this loss. I hope your final trip with him to Colorado will give you peace. Love always, Dena

Dear Ann & Reid:
I was so saddened to learn of Eric's passing from Dena last week. I know that we didn't know each other for long but the times we were together at Dena's house were so much fun and I was very fond of you and Eric and enjoyed both of you immensely. I know you will miss Eric very much. He was a wonderful man.

It was my pleasure to know him for the short time I did. I send both of you my most sincere and deepest sympathies for your loss.

Ann & Reid, Linda and I are so sad to hear of Eric's untimely passing. We have such fond memories of Eric at hockey games and the innumerable practices over those many years that Reid and Christopher played hockey. Good times to say the least. I remember many a day that Eric and I sat up in those stands, freezing our rear ends off, as we solved the problems of the world. Eric was always so friendly and unpretentious. A finer man have I not known. Your loss is heaven's gain and as painful as it may be for you and Reid, your knowledge that Eric is not suffering must provide you some solace. May God bless you both during this time of grief. Robin and Linda Doyle

Eric and I were very close friends, let's say in our leaner years! We were competitors but the very best of friends, we spent many evenings dining on cheese, crackers and wine. Some of my fondest memories are of those times and I'll never forget them!!!
Ann and Reid will be in our prayers.

Dearest Anne & Reid,
Although I've conveyed my sympathies and thoughts to Reid on Eric's passing, I want you to know that throughout my life I've rarely known a better man. He was sincerely a good man and a true gentleman. I've always held a great love and respect for him and for you. You've always remained a part of my family despite our distance.
I pray that God will make this untimely terrible loss bearable and give you comfort knowing how many people share your pain.

I know he's resting in peace and pride in his family. He loved you both so.
Love to you both always,
Cherrel

Dearest Anne and Reid,
All of us were so saddened to hear of the loss of your husband and father. Eric was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. Eric was always my favorite cousin outlaw. He was so generous and patient with us. We love you and will pray for peace. Much much much love and sympathy from your Colorado Cousins.
