of Little Rock, AR

December 29, 1941 - May 10, 2016

Jimmy D. Sullivan, 74, of Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 29, 1941 in Nashville, Arkansas to the late John P. and Irene Sullivan.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Danny Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, soul mate and best friend of almost 50 years, Kay Johnson Sullivan; his daughter Kristi Sullivan Patton, her husband Patrick and granddaughter Caroline Straessle; his son John Sullivan, granddaughter Shelby Sullivan and grandson Travis Sullivan, and their mother Donna Sullivan; and one sister Kay Schumacher and her husband Don of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Jim retired after serving as President and CEO of Worthen First Mortgage Company, after three years as president of Pulaski Mortgage Company and its predecessor, Jack Collier East Company in Little Rock. He attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia and was a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking at Northwestern University.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas Kovaleski, who was not only Jim's rheumatologist for more than 30 years, but also a dear friend and confidant. We also are so appreciative to the physicians and nurses that lovingly cared for Jim in ICU South at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 13, at 11:00 a.m., at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. A reception and visitation with the family will follow. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501)224-8300.

Kay, Kristi and family,

Sending prayers, love and peace to you at this time. There are times in your life when the perfect person is placed in your life at the perfect time. For me, one of those few people was Jimmy D. Sullivan. Throughout our time at Worthen First and beyond, he was a great friend and mentor whose influence in my life continues to this day. Jim was the genuine article who paid it forward in so many ways. I feel greatly blessed to have known such a fine gentleman. God bless you, Jimmy D!

Kay & Kristi, I'll be at St. James tomorrow but I just wanted to put in writing how much I admired and respected Jim. He showed me such a fun and genuine personality when I was younger by taking me bream fishing on Lake Conway and all the "late night" poker games at the annual meetings for AHA. I'll never forget the volleyball games at your pool on Sunday afternoons. Probably the most important thing he ever did for me was help me and Larry get a line of credit to start our business over 30 years ago. He changed my life long ago and in many ways. I'll always remember him as a friend and a guy who had the biggest and best smile that I think I've ever known. Love you both and RIP Jim.

God bless Jimmy Sullivan. Years ago we both worked at Pulaski Bank; Jimmy was not only an outstanding mortgage banker, but an all-around great guy. He always had that "trademark" heartfelt and genuine smile on his face.

Kay,
I cannot describe how much of a positive influence Jim was on me as a young man. It was because of him that I was able to get into the mortgage business where I was meant to be. Caryn and I are SO sad that we are not going to be able to be there for the service. We are in Florida and have to make a pit stop in Mississipi on the way home. I feel certain Carol will be there on Friday. We love you both and are sad about losing him but we're happy he no longer has to suffer.
All our love.

Kay I was so sad to hear Jim passed away. Donnie and I are going to be out of town and will miss the services, but we will be there in spirit. Jim has always been one of favorites. He came by to see Rick and I several months ago and he was so good to call me. He was always so wonderful to me and I loved him like a big brother. Please know we will be praying for you, Kristi and the whole family.
