Vivian "Jo" Retzloff Magee

of Little Rock, AR

June 29, 1952 - April 28, 2016

Vivian ''Jo'' Retzloff Magee of Little Rock died April 28, 2016. A native of Little Rock, she was born June 29, 1952 to the late Howard Carl and Ilo Mae (Lambert) Retzloff. Jo was a graduate of Hall High School and followed her father's footsteps in the advertising agency business. She left Mangan, Raines, Ginnaven, Holcomb to begin her family with Bob. While a mother and community volunteer she developed her lifelong passion as a pastel artist, with artworks displayed at The Butler Center and sold nationwide.

A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a Retreat Singer. She graduated from Education for Ministry and coordinated the Catechesis of the Good Shepard Program for youth at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Her community involvement included volunteering with the Junior League of Little Rock, Florence Crittenton Home and Easter Seals Arkansas. As a Faulkner County Master Gardener she furthered her second passion of teaching others about the beauty and importance of plants in our environment.

Jo is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert C. Magee, Sr., their children Laura Kathryn Moore (Richard), Bobby Magee and Pattie Weed as well as her brother Rand Retzloff (Beth) and grandchildren Parker and Nile Moore, all of Little Rock. Bob's mother, Barbara Magee, who Jo called Mom, is living in Florida. Her brother Richard Retzloff preceded her in death as well as her parents.

A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 12415 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals Arkansas or St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Bob, if most people were like Jo, it would be such a better world to live in. She was sweet, kind, authentic, fun and had so many other good qualities. A totally likable, lovely and lovable person. I'm so sorry that you lost her at such a young age. Please accept my condolences and hope that over time the wonderful memories of her will begin to compensate for your grief. God bless you and your family. Joe Romer

Bob - Gary and I were so shocked and saddened to see this. I am so sorry we have lost touch over the years but have many wonderful memories. Jo was instrumental in my first date with Gary and I remember the night I introduced you two. She was a great friend! Please know you and your family are in our hearts and we are praying for you.

Bob, Rand, and family...so sad to read of Jo's passing today. I remember so well interacting with Jo both personally as a friend of Rand's hanging out at Howard and Ilo's home as a kid and professionally during her ad agency career. (Jo might have been my first real client when I joined my family business back in 1976.) She was so sweet and talented in everything she did. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this tough time.
