November 11, 1936 - July 16, 2015

Margaret Elaine Hairgrove Neal, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015. Elaine was born in Timpson, Texas, November 11, 1936, the daughter of Dewey and Agnes Hairgrove.

From her high school days, where she was a cheerleader, voted football sweetheart and most likely to succeed, on to the end of her life, Elaine was an inspiration to all who knew her. She and husband Joe married in Shreveport in 1964, and subsequently lived in Longview, Texas and New Orleans before moving to current residence in Little Rock in 1975. She was a constant companion with her husband on many outdoor adventures, and traveled to many foreign countries. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and an active member of ''Baptist Women on Missions''.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joe Neal, son Jeff and Annmarie Neal, grandchildren Dusty, Margaret ''Maggie'', Hannah, Callum and Rowan Neal, and great-grandchildren Aubrey and Daniel Lineberger and brother and sister-in-law Dr. Kenneth and Sarah Hairgrove of San Antonio, and her especially beloved sister-in-law Louise Kent of Little Rock.

She was predeceased by her parents Dewey and Agnes Hairgrove, brother Marion and sister Lurlene Cole and granddaughter Islay Margaret Neal.

Visitation is scheduled Sunday, July 19 from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock 72223, 501-224-8300. Memorial service will be Monday, July 20 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Please send memorials to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas, 1009 Wolfe St., Little Rock, AR 72202.

The family thanks Dr. M. Davis, Dr. E. Rogers and Pam, RN, Tenecia, RN at UAMS ICU for wonderful final care.

Elaine was truly an Angel on this earth and someone who ''never had a bad day'' and wouldn't let those around her have one either.

Elaine and I went to school together all through grammer & highschool. We lived in Beuna Vista and attended the same church for 17 years. Even though I only remember seeing her once since graduation from Timpson High, on the cheerleader photo I am on the right end and Elaine is on the left end. In highschool Elaine, Jane Collins and I were a close threesome. I enjoyed the video and extend sympathy to her family. A long time ago friend, Lovell Joyce Bowlin Harvey.

I was saddened to hear of aunt Elaine's passing. She was a beautiful person and it was always a joy to see her. I never saw her without a smile and never heard a cross word from her. She will be sorely missed. Let me know if ya'll need anything. God's peace be with you. I love you all.

Elaine Neal was the epitome of a genteel Southern woman: graceful, kind, and compassionate. And she had a wonderful sense of humor. I never heard her say an unkind word about another. Elaine fulfilled her many roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and friend with a love that didn't need expression; one simply felt it. I feel very fortunate to have been her friend for over forty years. Elaine was loved by many, as she will be missed by many.
