Muriel "Pete" Wayne Rice

of Little Rock, AR

November 26, 1927 - June 6, 2015

Muriel Wayne ''M.W. (Pete)'' Rice of Little Rock, born and raised in Cotter, joined his loving wife, Jean Williams Rice, in heaven on June 6, 2015 after a short illness. Pete, a United States Navy Veteran and Electrical Engineer from Georgia Tech, worked for AP&L/Entergy for 40 years, during which time he and Jean raised three sons: Jim, Bobby, and Joe, and a daughter, Cindy. He was a loving father and grandfather and a generous and caring man to all who knew him. Pete always did whatever he could to make life easier for all of his children and grandkids. Even as he faced his most difficult challenge of leaving this earth, the Good Lord enabled him to make his death as easy as possible for all his loved ones.
After retiring from Entergy, he began a second career building power systems in Asia. He spent six years traveling the world consulting for Electec, a subsidiary of Entergy. He then started a third career and his most enjoyable one, nurturing his grandchildren: Dorothy, Bill, Marianne, Merritt, Will, Joseph, Gretchen, Susan Caroline and Jett and great- grandchildren: Jayden, Aria and Seamus. Pete was active with the Arkansas Academy of Electrical Engineers and held several leadership positions with First Christian Church of Little Rock.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jean; three brothers: L.M., Kent and Glenn; father and mother Leonard and Arline Rice. He is survived by his brother, Phillip Rice of Cotter. Pete will be greatly missed by all, especially his kids and grandkids, but we will all cherish our memories and know that he will be with us always.
Visitation will be held at Roller Chenal, Monday, June 8, 6-8pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church, Little Rock, AR.

As a young engineering intern, Mr. Rice (never could call him Pete)... was an inspiration, mentor and the one person that gave me a chance in 1972 in Pine Bluff, Ar.

Mr. Rice was a most revered and respected professional and leader who demonstrated the courage of his convictions.
While his passing gives us pause, his legacy lives on through his wonderful family...my heartfelt condolences go out to you all.

Mr. Rice was a wonderful gentleman and an inspiration for many young engineers! We are saddened by his loss, but also very appreciative of his time and efforts for the Electrical Engineering Department and the Arkansas Academy of Electrical Engineers.

We so enjoyed getting to spend time with "Pa-Pete," as our children liked to call him. He was a very special man who will be dearly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim and Jane and the entire family during this time.
