Thank you, everyone for remembering, my brother, Martin. We did have great times growing up in "the neighborhood". From playing baseball in the front yard at 2218 Battery, to playing ping pong on the screened in porch. Porky, remember when we all had to have the same straw cowboy hats or all those boys club tags we attached to our belt loops. Preston, remember the cap pistol gunfights. Porky, all this probably helped you get ready for the marines. And Johnny...I remember all your great Triumphs. Martin leaned toward BSA. We will all miss Martin, very much. Thank you again, Chuck.

Chuck, it is so hard to convey the sadness of losing a wonderful childhood friend as Martin. Karen Rudisill called me to look in the paper for the news of Martin's passing. Wow! The memories that welled up ..... Movies at your grandfathers, playing with "Battle", learning to play drums, trying to fool your Mom about the Corvette being such a lamb of a car (didn't work :-) ) then the more sedate T-Bird. On and on and on my mind reminisced the hours and hours of play with all the kids in the neighborhood there on 20th and Summit/Battery. I lost track of Martin some 30+ years and even more for you. I remember you being quite good at tennis and even to probably making a living at it. It was when your family moved out on Kavanaugh that I truly lost touch. Re-connecting his way isn't anyone's preference. I hope to be back in town in time to make the memorial service and to see you and your family.
France's - you were a baby and small child during all my early growing up years with Martin and Chuck, so I am certainly one you no little to nothing about. Know that I considered Martin as one of my dearest friends when we we re young.
My sincerest condolences to you both and to the rest of your family. God Bless All.

Carol,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. You may not remember me, but Gramps (Ned Smith) used to trade horses with y'all when you would come out to the Circle S out highway 10. I was just talking about y'all with my cousin Shelley Saturday and wondered what had happened to the two of you.

Carol,

We are so sorry about Martin. It is hard to give up a spouse and friend of so many years, sharing life together. The Lord will give many memories that will soften the hurt over time. Your strong faith and your friends (of which I am one) will be by you during your time of grief and adjustment. Love,
Kent & Rita (O'Kelley) Stone

Hi Carol.
My heart is broken and I too feel the loss in Martin's passing.
I have known Martin and his brother Chuck all of my life. I was born in their grandmother Wiseman's home on Summit Avenue in Little Rock. Hatie Julia, their mother, treated me like a nephew. I can't remember when there wasn't a Martin and Chuck.

We were like family – I often considered Martin and Chuck my cousins and I think they thought of me in the same way.
Like all of us, we grew out of our childhood and into adulthood and, for a time, lost track of each other.
Some twenty five years ago we reconnected.
Since then Martin and I visited many, many times – often over the phone.

We have some special memories that I will long cherish.
And Martin, I wish I could visit with you right this moment.

One thing that I am so thankful for is that your Christian wife, Carol, got to witness to you and that you came to know the Lord.
By the way, it was through your encouragement and gift of friendship that helped me make a decision to go into the ministry.
My, my, my, doesn't God work in strange and wonderful ways?
Thank goodness He does and thank God for you my friend.
I believe that one day we will sit together and enjoy the Great Feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.
“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine - the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The Lord has spoke.” - Isaiah 25:6-8. On that day we will say:
“baruch haba beshem Adonai.” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”
Your Cousin, Billy Ferguson
