Diane Lynn Thomas Cunningham

of Little Rock, AR

November 3, 1950 - October 8, 2014

Diane Lynn Thomas Cunningham, of Little Rock, passed away October 8, 2014 after a courageous six yearlong battle with various cancers; Diane took her last breath while in the arms of her best friend and loving husband, Glenn. As Diane had wished, her last hours were spent at her beloved home. Throughout her horrible ordeal Diane never complained about her endless pain. Instead, she was always concerned about how others felt. She leaves a void that will never be filled. Diane was born, November 3, 1950, in Pine Bluff, AR., to John and Aline Thomas (predeceased). She was soon joined by a sister Sheila Ann Thomas (predeceased), and her brother, Frank Walter Thomas, of Angleton, TX who survives her. In addition to Glenn Russell, her loving husband of almost 40 years, Diane is survived by her step-son Kyle Russell Cunningham and wife, SonMi, of Lawton, OK; sister-in-law, Donna Anderson, of North Little Rock, Florence Powell , of Conway, brother-in-law Fred Cunningham, of Edmond, OK, and Joe Bob Cunningham, of Foley, AL.

She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Norma Cunningham, of North Little Rock. She is also survived by her uncle, Robert Galster, of Star City, AR, and her aunt, Colleen Reaves and husband Harry, of Canton, TX. Numerous cousins and their children also mourn her loss. Diane is also mourned by three very dear girlfriends: Phyllis Nunnley, of Maumelle; Judy Winters, of Maumelle, and Candy Golden, of Montgomery, AL. As a member of the D & D Book Club for over 20 years, Diane loved to host her fellow readers. A very special thanks to Dr. Rhonda Gentry and her nurse, Cathy, and the nurses on 5T and 10th floor Cancer at Baptist Hospital.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway Little Rock (501) 224-8300. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 in the Chenal of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society 901 N. University Ave, Little Rock, AR 72207-6354.

Glenn, thank you so much for including me in this tribute to Diane's amazing life. I loved her like a sister and smile every time I say her name. In the days to come I will try my best to remember all the good times we had together and all the times she made me laugh...I hope you can do the same and maybe someday we will be lucky enough to unite with her and all laugh together.
Much love, J

Dear Glenn - words come hard when good friends like you suffer such a devastating loss, but just wanted you to know that just as we have had many happy times together, I mingle my tears with yours at this sad time.

Let this be your comfort: You are not the first to walk in this fearful path nor will you be the last. But each traveler is precious to God and walks under His watchful eyes. You did everything humanly possible for Diane and I am so proud of you for that! Hang in there!

Glenn and Frank, we are so sorry for our loss. Diane was an amazing person. I have always looked up to her but even more so in the last six years. She ALWAYS had that beautiful smile and always wanted to know how we were all doing. We will miss her positive attitude and outlook on life. May we all remember what she has taught us about enjoying life even when life is not so good. She is a hero in my eyes. I'm praying for you both and will continue in the days ahead. See you soon. Love you.

I am so sorry to have read of your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. Something that I have personally found to be of great comfort is what the Bible says at John 5:28, 29 as well as Revelation 21:4. These verses show us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my sincere hope that these thoughts comfort your family as well. Again I am so sorry for your loss.
