Wanda Davis West, former long-time resident of Rogers, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 21st, in Little Rock.

She was born in 1924 to R.W. Davis and Jessie Fimple Davis. She was a 1942 graduate of Rogers High School, and after graduation joined the WAVES to serve in World War II. Upon completion of her service, she enrolled at the University of Arkansas, where she graduated in 1949, and where she later completed her M.Ed. degree in 1974.She was a teacher for over 20 years in the Rogers Public School System, both at Westside and Southside Elementary Schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mack West. They were married at Immanuel Baptist Church of Rogers in 1950, where Wanda was a charter member. Wanda and her husband, Mack, were subsequent founding members of Grace Baptist Church in Rogers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lhisa Cranford Watson of Piperton, TN and Theresa L.Caldwell of Little Rock, four grandchildren: Jeremy Jess Brown of Gainesville, VA, Mackalynn Davidson of Triangle, VA, Kyle Harmon of Bentonville, and Heath Harmon of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Rachel, Colin, and Alyssa Brown, Scarlett and Connor Davidson, and Nola Harmon.

Since 2004, Wanda had resided in Little Rock, where she was a member of the ''Spares and Pairs'' Sunday School class at Immanuel Baptist Church. She was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, and loved to cook, garden, and complete word puzzles. She made many friends in her retirement community. Her joy was evident to everyone around her always.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers, Arkansas. Arrangement by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Grace Baptist Church 2409 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, Arkansas 72758.

So very sorry to hear about your mom. She was a remarkable person. I always remember when I found out she had been in the service. I looked at her in an entirely different way. I could understand how she raised two really strong compentent women. You have been such a good daughter, tenderly cared for her above and beyond and made her such a part of your day to day life.
