I remember Yolanda having a very sweet spirit and a beautiful voice. We sang in the WCC.choir together . When she left to get married we were both sad and glad. But we knew The Lord had something great ahead for her. Like the Apostle Paul, Yolanda fought a good fight she finished her race and now she is in the arms of Jesus forevermore.
Thank You Jesus for wrapping your loving arms around this family and helping them through this stuff time. You promised you would never leave or forsake them. In Jesus name Amen.

I first met Yolanda when she was the lead in a play we did at Fellowship, Pigeons and Dandelions. She was wonderful - a natural. Not only did she have a beautiful voice, but a beautiful heart. I am so thankful that I knew her (although not as well as I would have liked) She was beautiful inside and out. I am so sorry for your loss. LeAnne Winters

Wow! This is surreal! I miss my Delta line sister, Vesper Choir member, Songbird Dove Sister, and dear friend, affectionately called Yo... Yo was the nicest person I have ever known...Yo was Miss UAPB 1986 and the 1st African American to win the title of Miss Pine Bluff 1986. She had many accomplishments. Most importantly, Yo was saved. Robert, I am praying for you and the kids.

We were introduced around 1987. Yolanda loved to sing and I loved to create music. Our partnership resulted in an album (Yolanda Johnson - "Committed"), 3 standing room only concerts and countless hours of music making joy. Even though the miles separated us once she moved back to her home state, we kept our friendship alive through phone conversations throughout the years. I'm going to miss my friend and the sweet sound of her voice.
Robert and children, I offer my sincerest condolences.
We are lifting you and your family up in prayer.
We are continuing to pray for each of you and love each one very much.
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the Johnson and Upshaw families. Yolanda was such a kind and gracious woman. She will remain in the thoughts and hearts of the many who knew her.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Upshaw family. You are all loved by many.
