June 6, 1955 - November 10, 2017

Gary Lynn "Buckwheat" Burrows, age 62, of Guy, AR, passed away November 10, 2017, from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born in Little Rock, AR, where he resided for 57 years, to the late Louin and Clara "Pattie" Burrows. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna Burrows; sons, Shane (Sarah) and Marc (Leslie); five grandchildren: Payton, Tatum, Grey, Spencer, and Caroline "Addie"; sister, LouAnn (Dennis) Walker; mother-in law, Marjorie Rimmer; brother-in law, Johnny (Sharon) Rimmer; sister-in-law, Reita Rimmer; nieces: Allison (Adam) Ruff, Kristin (Paul) Titley, and Kimberly Rimmer; nephews: Gary (Stacy) Rimmer and Kyle (Tina) Rimmer; best friend, Mike (Charlotte) Lauderdale; eight great nephews; four great nieces; and a host of family and friends.

He began his work life as an auto mechanic. He then started work in the racing industry, where he managed Racing Head Service and later opened his own business, Buckwheat's Racing Service. He ended his career at GRT Race Cars, where he served as the parts manager for 20 years.

He developed a passion for racing at an early age that continued until his final days. He could be found watching races, selling parts, and building car bodies. He also had a love for cooking for his family and friends. He enjoyed decorating and illuminating his home each Christmas. He spent every fall hunting with his cousins, friends, and sons.

Serving as pall bearers are Steve Blaylock, Donnie Burrows, Larry Joe Burrows, Sr., Buck Lewis, Dennis Poole, Gary Rimmer, Kyle Rimmer, and Darrel Roberts.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and the funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 10:00 am, both at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Interment will follow at Copperas Springs in Guy.

Buck was one of our best friends in racing. He put bodies on my car when other people wanted his talent. We are so sorry for missing the visitation as I know there were many friends of Buck and mine that I would have loved to see. We found out about it too late to make it. Donna, we both wish you the best and we'll all miss Buck. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever called him anything but Buck. Larry and Judy Potter #69

I first met Gary when he was at Racing Head Service. I was just getting I to racing and he was very helpful. I was later lucky enough to work with Gary at GRT. He always had a phrase to sum up any situation, lol. And he made the best trail mix and meat I have had anywhere. Gary will be missed.
