Wayne Lester StevensonI am a Veteran.

of Guy, AR

September 30, 1929 - February 6, 2017

Wayne Lester Stevenson, 77, of Guy, AR, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on February 6, 2017. Wayne was born on September 30, 1939, to the late Harvey and Bronnie Stevenson in Damascus, AR. He attended Guy Perkins High School where he graduated in 1957. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army and served from 1958-1962. On July 20, 1962 Wayne was married to Dorothy Louise (Little) Stevenson at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy, and together they lived in North Little Rock where he worked at Wetzler's Sheet Metal.

In May of 1969, they moved with their two children to Guy where Wayne would lead and participate in the community while serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and music leader at his home church of Mt. Olive for many years.

In 1971, Wayne began a HVAC company with close friend Fred Glover. This venture would lead him to take a leap of faith five years later to start his own company, Stevenson Heating and Air. His love of serving others was evident by the way he ran his business. Wayne's legacy continues today through his son, Todd, who runs the business with his family.

Wayne went into retirement in 2002, but that did not stop him from enjoying the things he loved most like sports, singing, racing and raising horses, and anything his grandchildren were involved in.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, one daughter Tammy (Greg) Long of Greenbrier, one son, Todd (Libby) Stevenson of Bee Branch, three brothers, Clark (Linda), David (Lisa), Tommy, and brother-in-law Marvin Lee. He had four grandchildren: Tanner (Sarah) Stevenson, Beau Stevenson, Peyton Long, and Mary Faith Stevenson and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mardula Lee, of Guy, AR.

Wayne had a love and passion for children. He loved to see them excel in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Soaring Wings Christian Home and Ranch, PO Box 1670, Conway, AR 72033.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017, 6:00-8:00PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy. Funeral service will be 2:00PM, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the church with Brother Ed Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Greenbrier.

It only seems like a few short years ago we were all playing softball together.
Wayne was a man that people looked up to and hopefully been the perfect example to his family.

So sorry to hear of the loss of this great friend to so many. His wonderful influence will be missed. We were fortunate several years ago to get him to play for the men's softball team at the Nazarene Church in Conway. Although he was slightly older than the others, he always managed to completely put us to shame at nearly every play. We loved being around him and we greatly treasure the friendship of his sweet family. He was truly a blessing and will be missed. We will be praying for all of you.

I'm heartbroken to read of Wayne's passing. He was one of the greatest men I've ever known. I've always looked up to Wayne and Dorothy. I'm a better man having known people this good. Tammy and Todd are the reflection of their raising - good people who do good unto others. I will never open my mouth to sing for my Lord Jesus without thinking of Wayne. He instilled a love of the old hymns in me early in life. He will be greatly missed on Earth, but I have no doubt that he is rejoicing with the angels in Heaven. May God's Holy Spirit comfort you as only He can. I love you all more than you'll ever know. Eric
