Mickey Ray Fortner

of Guy, AR

October 3, 1955 - November 19, 2014

Mickey Ray Fortner, 59, of Guy, owner of Mickey's Collision Center, left this world November 19, 2014 to meet his Lord and Savior. He was born October 3, 1955 in Conway, AR to the late Kenneth (Skinny) Fortner and Clara Inez Fortner. Mickey was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Catherine Collier and one brother Rickie (Apple) Fortner.

Mickey was a member of Copperas Springs Baptist Church. One of Mickey's biggest accomplishments was when he started a side job repairing and painting vehicles in a small garage in Conway behind his house which he turned into a successful and thriving business in 1980. Mickey always would say ''I not only fix vehicles, but I fix peoples problems.'' He was one of the founders of the Arkansas Chuckwagon Racing Association, where he served as President for 4 years. Mickey was also President of the Arkansas Teenage Rodeo Association for 4 years. He was an amazing husband, dad, Papa and role model to many. So many people looked up to him for guidance and advice. Mickey was our go to man, our hero and our entire world. He was loved by many. Mickey will be missed by many but never forgotten. Heaven sure gained an amazing Angel, go fly high dad you sure deserved the best for you gave everyone the best of you.

Mickey leaves behind a loving wife of 34 years, Monta Fortner, two daughters, Cassidy Presley and husband Alan, Spanky/Ashley Fowler and husband Heath, four grandchildren, Cheyenne Presley, Randi Presley, Clayton Presley, Paisley Fowler, and a twin brother, Dickey Fortner and wife Connye. Mickey loved his family with all he had. He was a true family man and a man of God.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 21st at Copperas Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the church, with Bro. Gary Burdin officiating. Burial will follow at Copperas Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Tucker, Donnie Fowler, Paul Freeman, John Aldridge, George Miller, and James Hartsfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Hines and John Oliver. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1004 Van Ronkle St., Suite 1, Conway, AR 72032 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to express a special thanks to Jamie and Trevor of Gentiva Hospice.

The Measure of a Man: Not - "how did he die" But - "how did he live" Not - "what did he gain" But - "what did he give" These are the units to measure the worth of a man, as a man, regardless of birth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mickey will truly be missed.

I had known Mickey for over 50 years. He was always a true friend to me and my family. He never had a bad word to say about anybody, and was always upbeat and positive about life. His "work" is legendary and he was the only one who I allowed to "fix" my bent fenders. My prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms.
