Jimmy "Jim" Wayne Duran

of Conway, AR

June 17, 1948 - June 16, 2018

Jimmy (Jim) W. Duran, 69, of Conway, AR went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was born June 17, 1948 in Conway, AR to the late Earnest and Lena (Goode) Duran. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim graduated Conway High in 1966 and Hendrix College in 1970 with a business degree. He and his wife spent 20 years in the food service industry. They owned Mexican Express and Bob's Grill. He felt his spiritual gift was to serve others and he took great pride in ensuring every customer experience was a good one. After retirement he spent most of his time enjoying his grandchildren.

Jim was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway. He devoted his life to his family, his friends and his church. He was an avid tennis player; he loved picking his guitars and enjoyed driving and showing his cars. He was very involved with his Sunday school class (The Dotty Robins Light class), enjoyed his weekly Wednesday morning coffee group and having Tuesday lunch with his high school friends (class of 66 lunch bunch). Jim was loved very much by his friends and family, who will dearly miss him. He loved his grandchildren and cherished each of them. He was proud of every accomplishment in their lives. He was affectionately known to them as ''Pop'' and will forever be remembered for his kindness and unconditional love.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving family: wife Paula Duran, daughters, Kristin (Travis) Barrentine and Alison (Jeff) Hill, 5 grandchildren, Caleb Barrentine, Nathan Barrentine, Grant Barrentine, Brooke Barrentine and Ashlee Hill, his brother LaVoughn Duran and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.

Pall bearers will be Jeff Hill, Travis Barrentine, Caleb Barrentine, Nathan Barrentine, Philip McElyea, and Perry Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be the class of 66 lunch bunch.

We returned from a short trip out of town late Wednesday. I saw the obituary this morning as I caught up on the Log Cabin. I was shocked and saddened to see that Jim had passed. We know that we will see him again, but we share the loss felt by Paula and the family. So sorry that we could not be there to celebrate Jim's life and legacy. He always had a smile and a kind word. Our love and sympathy in Christ Jesus. Our Lord and Savior, Phil & Kathy Pearson

I've known Jim and his family since I was 5 years old! ( maybe younger) He was never anything but kind and with a smile on his face! I loved it when he would give me a ride on that red moped!!! Last time I saw him, he was in church getting ready to watch his grand daughter sing. I watched him smile from ear to ear as she sang! I use to see him at the park with those boys (when they were younger) and he could not have been happier! Kristen, I've known you since you were born and our backyards connected. My heart breaks for each of you. Paula and Alison you made his life complete, Jim was a blessed man. You are so very blessed to have had him in your life! I was blessed to call him friend! He will be missed. Deepest sympathy to each of you, Lulu
