Ann Kirby

of Conway, AR

March 12, 1937 - October 9, 2016

Ann Kirby was born March 12, 1937, in Martinville to the late Jessie and Lessie Harmon. She died of complications from dementia on October 9, 2016, at the age of 79.

She graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1954 and later from Petit Jean Vocational. A stay-at-home mom for many years, she entered the workforce later in life at First State Bank in Conway. It was in the banking business that she spent many years as an Assistant Trust Officer and formed many lifelong friendships. She retired from Bank of America in 1991.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Royce; daughters, Debi (David) Avra of Conway, and Dianne (Randy) Huffstickler of Tyler, Texas; and son, Donny of Conway; a sister, Tommye Guinn, of Conway; grandchildren, Allison (Pete) Guerin and Ashley (Jim) Clark of Conway, Lacey ( Jason) McNeil and Beau Kirby of Greenbrier, Kirby Huffstickler of Houston, Texas, and Tyler Huffstickler of Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Other survivors include great-grandchildren Makayla and Reece Betts and Miller Clark; brothers-and sisters-in-law Vernon (Betty) Kirby and Curtis (Cindy) Kirby of North Little Rock, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Guerin.

A member of the Church of Christ, she especially enjoyed the old hymns sung acapella. Mimi, as she was known by those who knew her best, enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, canning, and tending to her many flower beds. She always said pulling weeds was better than any pill you could take. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grand- and great-grandchildren. She was known for her home-style cooking, and family friends welcomed an invitation to stay for a meal or to enjoy her homemade salsa or buttermilk fudge.

Honorary pallbearers include her nephews Randy, Bobby, Craig, and Todd Evans; Terry Hensley; Terry Kirby; and Brian Kirby.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A graveside service will be held Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Martinville Cemetery.

Prayers for your family at this time. I have good memories of growing up with Ann and Tommye Sue in Martinville. I always enjoyed their mother when she came to "quiltings" a our house.
I think Debi may know my daughter, Mica.

May your hearts continue to be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May Our Lord's Christ Jesus' promise of a resurrection, strengthen your hearts until the day when death is no more, and honest-hearted ones will see lost loved ones once again (John 5:28, 29). In the meantime, may your memories, and the love and support of dear family and friends comfort you

Royce and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Ann was so great to help me out here at Kirby's Heating and Air, the way she would chuckle at difficult customers just tickled me, wish I could be more like her with them. Loved her smile. Thanks for sharing her with me. She will be dearly missed. I pray for your comfort and peace at this time. Love you all, Jan
