I served in the Air Force.
Bobby "Bob" Lee ChappellI am a Veteran.

of Conway, AR

September 2, 1933 - April 26, 2016

Bobby Lee (Bob) Chappell, 82, entered the gates of heaven on April 26, 2016. He was the son of the late Jesse and Bertha Viola (Cooper) Chappell. Bob was born in Cassville, MO and graduated from DeSoto Rural High School in DeSoto, KS. One of three mischievous boys, they all loved the outdoors and practical jokes of any kind. He joined the Air Force in 1952 and served proudly in active duty and in the Reserves until 1960. Known for his humor, Bob has always credited himself with winning the Korean War saying they knew they didn't have a chance and surrendered shortly after hearing the news of his enlistment.

In 1956, Bob married Nancy Jane Messner while stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base. He spent the majority of his career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in North Little Rock, AR. Joining the company in 1962, he retired in 1995 after a bout with cancer. In retirement he and wife Nancy spent time with their grandchildren, their beloved"dog children" and in various volunteer activities including AETN, AARP, Operation Christmas Child and with their church, St. Peter's Episcopal. And of course, as an avid Razorback fan, he never missed the opportunity to watch the Hogs play.

He conducted his personal life in accordance with the State Farm motto, "Like a Good Neighbor..." He was a very good "neighbor" to his business associates, family and friends. They will remember him for his quick wit, friendly personality, kindness and gentleness. We will miss him desperately but are so thankful we will see him again.

Also preceding him in death was his wife of 57 years, Nancy Jane (Messner) Chappell; brothers, Jesse Carl Chappell and Loy Gene Chappell; and son, Brian Lee Chappell.

Surviving is one daughter, Cheri Alexander (Kevin) of Conway, AR, daughter-in-law, Judy Monteith (John) of Houston, TX, sister-in-law, Pat Haskins of Leavenworth, KS, and sister-in-law, Jeane Randle of Fayetteville, AR. He is also survived by six grandchildren who loved their Papaw dearly, Travis, Scotty and Kyle Alexander of Conway, AR, Katherine Blomgren (Carl) of Houston, TX, Brittany Kraft (Josh) of Fayetteville, NC, Greg Chappell of Houston, TX and by a host of nieces and nephews.

His family will always be grateful to the staffs at Brookdale - Conway and Seeds of Love in Greenbrier. Thank you both for loving Bob and making him a part of your families.

A visitation will be held Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Roller- McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church also in Conway. Entombment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park with full military honors being rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or online at woundedwarriorproject.org or to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Conway, Arkansas.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the
words spoken at John 5:28,29 "(28).Do not be amazed
at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the
memorial tombs will hear his voice (29). and come out,
those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and
those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."
