Elmer Levi Espy, 92, of Conway, passed away on February 13th, 2015. He was born December 19th, 1922, in Biscoe, Arkansas to the late Earnest Espy, and Ruth Medford Espy. He is also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Espy and daughter, Diane Reynaud.
Mr. Espy was a veteran of the US Navy, and served during World War II. He was the service supervisor for ADT Security where he retired after 43 years of service.
Mr. Espy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra Espy; two daughters, Carol Hicks (Gilbert) of Nashville, Tennessee and Jean Summers (Richard) of Longwood, Florida; grandchildren, including Christine and Leslie Hicks of Nashville, Tennessee and sister-in-law, Kathy Gregson of Mabelvale, Arkansas.
A funeral service will be held at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Howard Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Elmer was a great guy, a gentleman with a good sense of humor. I worked with him on his post-retirement career, which included gardening. He liked to work and brought joy and ingenuity to whatever task he had before him. As a result, he left the world a more beautiful place. I miss talking with him, but I will always remember his recipe for the best corn on the cob: "Boil the water. Then pick the corn."
