“Wally,” as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was the only uncle I ever remembered, and looking back, had more influence on my life than I have given him credit. As a young teenage boy, I lived for a short time with my grandparents in Missouri, prior to our family moving there. Wally was close to his parents and had a restaurant business adjacent to my grandparents “mom and pop” grocery store on Table Rock Lake. During the summer months I enjoyed hanging out with him late at night after the restaurant closed and talking about classic cars, hot rods and the general philosophies of life, which he had a few unique perspectives. He taught me how to shoot a hand gun and I enjoyed him sharing stories of the old west firearms. He sparked my lifelong passion for collectable cars and motorcycles, having watched him restore several, and owning many more. He was a talented artist, which could be seen in his automotive craft. Later in life, I always enjoyed whatever time we had together sharing our common interests. I will never forget his ability to tell a captivating story and his contagious laugh. I remember him as a soft-spoken, kind and caring person and I will miss him greatly until I see him again in Heaven. I believe he accepted the unearned free gift of eternal salvation, which is only available through Christ Jesus, and put his trust in Him, as have I.
