Essie M. Freeman, 97, of Lamar, went to be with the Lord , July 2, 2012. She was born July 19, 1914, in Dover, Arkansas, to the late Jim and Annie (Sanders) Thomas. She was a charter member of Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church. She was very active in Lee's Chapel for 50 plus years, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and secretary. She was a very devout and spiritual woman. Essie was a farmer, a member of the Lutherville Quilters Association and a member of the Lee's Chapel Quilters Association. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lee Freeman; two sons, Delmer Freeman, Sr. and Lonnie Freeman; a great granddaughter, Allison Payne; three brothers and five sisters.

Essie is survived by a son, Don Freeman (June); a daughter-in-law, Betty Freeman; a sister, Mae English; all of Lamar; six grandchildren, Jackie Harris (Lonnie), Delmer Freeman, Jr., Luther Freeman (Natalie), Mike Freeman, all of Lamar, Becky Hardgrave (Mark) of Knoxville, and Karen Nelson (Thomas) of London; 11 great grandchildren, Christina, Valerie, Dustin, Bridget, Talia, Danielle, Lynn, Kayla, Jason, Summer and Cole; eight great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home, in Clarksville. Essie's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Dewayne Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Annie's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Delmer Freeman, Jr., Luther Freeman, Dustin Harris, Jason Freeman, Cole Nelson and Richard Judah.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God and members of the Lutherville Quilters Association, James Freeman, Devaughn Hale, Leon Hale, Danny Thomas, Dale Montgomery, Glenn Avery, Willie Hughes, Bub and Barbara Pearson, Jacque Hodge, Elvera Stockton, Shelia Cowell and John Harris.

Esssie was a wonderful, Christian lady. We always enjoyed talking and listening to her. She was an inspiration to anyone who wanted a closer walk with God. We remember our times of going to her home and eating with her. Pinto beans was a staple along with lots of love. She will truly be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of sorrow. Aunt Essie was a very special person to me and all of her loved ones. She will be greatly missed. I am comforted in knowing that her health has been restored and she is at home with our Lord and savior.
