Mrs. Martha Nell Owens, wife of the late, Raymond F. Owens, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Mrs. Owens was the daughter of the late, Mr. and Mrs. Ira G. Corn and a lifetime resident of Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was an avid tennis player and a longtime member of Little Rock Athletic Club, Pulaski Heights Baptist Church and South Highland Baptist Church. Mrs. Owens attended Little Rock Public Schools, Ouachita Baptist University and UCA Graduate School. She taught in Little Rock Public Schools for 33 years as a classroom teacher and reading instructor at Pulaski Heights Elementary School. She was a member of LRCTA, AEA and NEA.

She was the parent of two sons, George Bernard Owens, who died in 2004 and John Raymond Owens and his wife, Joyce of Little Rock. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Raymond W. Owens and Tricia Owens Hilpert, both of Maumelle and Andrea Lloyd of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Logan and Lacey Hilpert, Ayden and Riley Owens and Ashley Roehrdanz; brother-in-law, J.W. Owens of Little Rock; sister, Katherine Rodgers of Yorba Linda, California; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service officiated by Dr. Preston Clegg of Second Baptist Church Downtown will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501) 224-8300 with visitation at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
