Melvin E. Hampton, 84, of Bono, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
He was born March 23, 1932 in Paragould to Chester and Augusta (Copeland) Hampton. Melvin retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. Hee was also a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Viola Hendrix Hampton; sons, Jerry and Terry Hampton; sister, Glenna Garner.
Survivors include daughters, Ruth (Tom) Brown of Bono, Wendy Anderson of Clarkston, Michigan; grandchildren, Jennifer Tarwater, Aaron Brown, Amanda Brown, Andrew Brown and Heath Weishuhn; great- grandchildren, Kelsey Pope, Alyssa Pope, Corey Pope, Kayla Brown, Maddie Brown, Anna Weist, Cooper Shelley, Mason Weishuhn and Emma Weishuhn; brothers, Wayne Hampton of Michigan and Gary Hampton of Virginia; sisters, Mary Jeffrey and Shirley Hampton, both of Michigan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM with Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bono. Pallbearers will be Aaron Brown, Aaron Williams, Corey Pope, Andrew Brown, Matt Tarwater and Heath Weishuhn.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until time of service.
