E Bernice Reese

of Booneville, AR

May 29, 1931 - January 9, 2017

E. Bernice (Adair) Reese, 85, of Booneville passed from this life on January 9, 2017. She was born on May 29, 1931 in Magazine to Larkin Doyle and Lila Lorene (Beason) Adair. Bernice was a Christian, grew up in the Baptist Church and loved the Lord. In1950 while in high school, she won the title of Miss Logan County Fair Queen. After graduation, she attended Westark Community College for two years and married James Daniel Reese, Sr. on May 24, 1951. Before retiring from ACE Comb Company, she worked as the personnel manager for over twenty-five years. She learned to cook and sew from her mom, Lorene. Bernice could make the best pies this side of Heaven and her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and roasts were amazing. Her many talents were exhibited through her hobbies of gardening, crocheting, sewing, quilting and ceramics. She had a ''green thumb'' and could put a rose stem in the ground that would grow into a rose bush. Bernice loved the holidays and decorating for Christmas. She especially loved family gatherings. She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Bernice was a living example of love and commitment. Her family honored and admired her strength for sticking through thick and thin, and the ability to turn lemons into lemonade and exhibiting her love through it all. She ran her race and finished her course and now she is happy and free in Heaven. We have the hope and promise that we will see her again in glory.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Daniel Reese, Sr.; her parents Larkin and Lorene Adair; and one sister, Freda (Adair) Howard of Slaton, Texas.

She is survived by two sons, James Daniel Reese, Jr. ''Jimmy Dan''and wife, Mary of Booneville and Thomas Joseph Reese ''Tommy Joe'' and wife, Mary of Lavaca; one sister, Sue (Adair) Bently and husband, Fred of Booneville; four grandchildren, James Daniel Reese III (Daniel) and wife, Deborah, David Truett Reese, Loren Elizabeth Borum and Ashley Kay White; four great-grandchildren, Corbin Reese Borum, Collins Riley Borum, Ryleigh Hardwicke and Deacon Hardwicke; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Booneville Funeral Service Chapel.

Graveside service to be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service..

My sincere condolences to the Reese family. Death is certainly a painful enemy, but we are not without hope. Almighty God promised to bring back to life those who have died by means of the resurrection. Yes, back to a life on a Paradise earth where sickness, wickedness and death will be no more. ( John 5:28 & 29 and Luke 23:43. Please take these comforting promises to heart.

What great memories of "Aunt Bernice" and Uncle JD. Thank you for sharing your mom with us all these many years. Our memories will be the ones of my youth when she was trying to be the mom that keeps up with active kids and a husband that never met a stranger. She was a model that I respected and loved. Prayers with you two guys that you now know "mom" is now whole again and what wonderful memories we can keep of her and the life she lived.
